Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (110 Viewers)

Brady should be paying attention to his current team that has a shot to go to the SB tomorrow. Johnson and Glenn were looking ahead to their next opportunities and blew it for the Lions. That and they ran into That Kid.

That's not true at all. They were ok with it in the end, but wanted someone else.
They both said in the podcast that they were onboard with DA and continuity from the start , It's behind the pay wall so I won't post it

That’s good to hear!

I think there's a reason that the Saints haven't rushed to get McCarthy in sooner, because they don't have to. Because they know that if they make him an offer, he'll take it, and there was never a chance that he would go anywhere else. I would also go as far as say that the Saints opening and his relationship with Loomis and Meuler are a big part of what lead him to tell Jerry to go pound sand.

Is it a bad look to be turned down by 2 candidates?
Glenn was drafted by the Jets and was with them way longer than with us. They were always going to be his 1st choice. Also the Jets were letting it be known that he would have contract before he left. And Brady didn't get 2nd interview requests from Chi or Jax. I'll bet he knew he was not getting the Saints job and pulled out so he would not get turned down by 3 teams

Spin it how you want, Glenn passed on us Ben Johnson and Vrable also passed on us too but Vrable is much more of an understandable situation. Officially though for this hiring cycle that’s 4 candidates who have passed on us.

I fully believe we can hire a great candidate and things can turn around, but I’m not silly enough to think the Saints are in a great spot right now. Odds are completely against such a thing happening anytime soon.
It was reported in more than a few places that the Bears were Johnson's 1st choice and that's where he went.

1. Kingsbury,
2.McCarthy
3. Moore

Kingsbury has growing experience and is still a young offensive mind and an ascending coach in this league.

McCarthy is a proven coach who can right the ship and has a good staff he could bring along with him (Schotienhemer not included).

Moore is a young offensive mind and a coach's son who's only gained more experience in this league as an OC and working under multiple coaches who have been successful, which adds to his influence and idea of what works.

Yup they sound like jilted lovers to me, but Nick kept saying he didn't have a favorite. But always when asked he said Brady

He did, but he also said don't listen to him on who should be the HC and that he didn't have a strong opinion since he thought hiring DA was a good hire and it turned out he was wrong.

What good teams are hiring a coach?
Very true statement but many of the jobs available the team is almost out of the darkness of the tunnel of sadness. We just entered the tunnel and we can’t even see the light on the other side.

Logically the nock on Brady is he can’t make it work without an elite qb. Well we don’t have that here no real path to that for at least another season. We have an aging roster. We have a mess cap wise where we are tied to the aging players. The draft this year is so so. It’s a mess here and another poster made the point the Josh McDaniels experience is real. He washed out in Denver at a young age and it took forever to get that second look and when it came it was in a place no one wanted to go.

It stings sure for us saints fans but logically Brady made the right choice for himself.

The Saints are going to be alright just not today not tomorrow but in a few years we are going to be back and the next hiring cycle we have an opening will be more attractive and it will be easier to get a better coach when we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s demoralizing right now but the benefit of being the NFL doormat for the next few years is we can stock up on young tallent, clean our books off, and develop the talent we draft. It’s kind of why a coach like Mike makes more sense for us now. He is widely regarded as a great teacher. He is a boring hire to be sure but might be the right guy for right now.

Will be fine in a few years this was allways gonna happen we just put if off for 3 years.
