Kamara HOF'er? (1 Viewer)

3-4 more seasons of good YFS production and Kamara will have a strong chance of HOF induction.

For his career, I think he’d need to reach 9-10k rushing yards, 7-9k receiving yards, and 110-140 total TDs to have strong consideration.

If the HOF voters views his career as an elite satellite back, and not just as a rusher, then he’ll have a great shot after a few more productive seasons.

Too early.

But if he has a few more seasons of production like we are used to then yes.

If he has a few more years after that then first ballot.

He’s unique and productive enough I think he’s on the fringe.

It could happen. Especially if he gets help. Nobody except local fans remember great players from bad teams.
But he hasn’t been on bad teams.
For the majority of his career, he’s been in the playoffs.
Personally, I think a couple more seasons away from the Hall, but I think he’s a Ring of Honor player.

He has to get into the top 10 of all purpose yards and have 120 TDs...Darren Sproles is waaaaaaay ahead of him in All Purpose yards..the league career record is held by Jerry Rice and that is in the 20K

Yeah his time with Payton/Brees helps but people's memories are selective. If he finishes his career on a bunch of forgettable teams it's going to be tough even if he has the numbers.
But ring of honor, almost certainly.

12,000 Yds rushing is the benchmark now. Every Rb who has surpassed that mark except Frank Gore is in the
HOF. Gore will make it once he's eligible. I doubt the HOF voters would make a satellite back exception
for Kamara or Christian McCaffrey who has nearly the same numbers as Kamara.

Fwiw, Fred Taylor has 11,695 career Yds,and Steven Jackson has 11,438 and I doubt either of those
two will ever make it.Same with Corey Dillon with 11,421.

edit- Adrian Peterson isn't in either, but like Gore he will be a lock

Taylor, Gore, Jackson, and Dillon all weren’t much of receiving backs. That’s where I think Kamara will be viewed differently.

Kamara has more career receiving yards than those RBs right now, or just a few dozen yards under some of their totals, and still has about 3 more prime years left. He’s impacting the game in receiving more than they ever did in their primes.

I think if Kamara passes Marshall Faulk’s #1 all time RB receiving yard total (6875) by a few hundred, finishes with 10k rushing, and 120 total TDs, he’ll get in within 10 years after retiring. That would put him within the top 10 all time yards from scrimmage.

Gore and Fitzgerald are the only top 10 YFS leaders not in the HOF but they’ll be there soon. The RBs in the top 10 YFS received over 3000 carries to get most of their YFS, while AK’s getting his YFS from a closer split of carries and receptions.

Backs are not reaching those types of numbers anymore. Teams won't allow it based on how the contracts are set up. Yes I know Derrick Henry can reach but he's an outlier.
I think AK and CMC will get in the HOF though.

AK won’t have to reach all of those totals during his prime years. I think he’ll be at 8200 rushing, 6k receiving, and 100 total TDs after 2 more RB1 seasons at the end of 2025.

Once Kamara enters the RB2 stage of his career, he could cross the 10k/7k thresholds from receiving volume and situational rushing.

I believe his last 2 or 3 seasons in the league will be as a high usage slot WR and 3rd down back. Short range receiver role could allow him to play until he’s 34 years old because of less bruising from the backfield. That’ll give him a chance to reach 17-18k YFS.

If they put the current generation of RBs into the right context, then yes I believe Kamara has a shot. Going on total numbers doesn't tell the whole story, kind of how you can't compare QBs stats from the 70s and 80s with QBs over the last 20 years. It was a totally different approach to the game back then. QBs weren't asked to sling the ball around and defensive players were allowed to be way more physical in pass defense.
