I disagree. There's a reason why Karen behavior is most often one very specific demographic. It's gaining attention and being recognized in this age of cell phones, omnipresent cameras, and social media but It's not about attention. It's about getting their way. Throwing a public tantrum, calling the police, demanding to be seen by the manager,, or even crying when necessary, these are all things that have proven to work in their favor even when in the wrong. This particular person had a goal in mind and thought that this would accomplish it because history has told her that her screeching will be listened to above anything else...to include the role of first responders idling on the street. She's very aware that it was an ambulance and that ambulances, out of necessity, park where they must. She just believes she's more important. That belief didn't come from no where. It was learned.

No, it's not about attention; it's about getting their way.

yep...if you have ever worked in retail or the service industry, you know that Karens walked among us long before social media

I’m glad I listened to the … YouTube news or whatever operation this is
Ambulance was not on a break
BUT
The dude commentating demonstrates (by his much outrage) that she has valid points
People are WAY to cavalier about bike riders/paths
We should encourage biking as much as possible in the cities for dozens of reasons
Unfortunately I had a friend who lost his life bc a parked car driver didn’t check when opening the door - it pushed my friend into the path of an oncoming truck (which obviously wasn’t operating safely around a cyclist)

Don’t let her karening screech over the larger message
The education also needs to go both ways. Couple years ago we were driving in downtown Cinci. My brother was driving and went to pull to the curb to park. Dude on a bike almost got squashed and was raising hell. What was he doing passing a truck on the right where there wasn't even a lane? If they're going to be on the road they need to obey the same traffic laws. Totally his fault but he was preaching about watching for bicyclists.

I'm surprised, but thankful, that some Karen(s) hasn't been on the wrong end of a gun during a tirade. I guess because most seem to be directed at retail or other professional occupations. But man, do that to the wrong person and it could be a bad ending for all involved.

not necessarily a gun, but the people on the receiving end of a Karen tirade show an amazing amount of restraint

There is a lot fewer arse beatings than I would have expected

That too is a function of our society. Karen behavior has long been tolerated. On the other side of that is the learned behavior from the rest of society to give in to Karen behavior, to appease these women because they have been set a part as being more special. That façade is crumbling, it's not fully dismantled but it is faltering.

i'll meet you about 1/3rd of the way on this
obviously people riding bikes should...collaborate with car drivers
but
riding a bike in traffic is VERY different than driving a car (you can be way more passive driving a car for one thing) and the consequences for mistakes/accidents are orders of magnitude worse for cyclists (whether it's the cyclist making the mistake or the driver the physical danger falls almost exclusively on the cyclist, so it really falls on drivers to be more responsible for their metal behemoths with limited sightlines)

when i lived in NYC there weren't really bike lanes per se, but there were a lot of bike messengers so there was a critical mass of cyclists as part of traffic that caused drivers to anticipate bike actions - most all traffic is on the same wavelength in NY - everyone is aggressively moving forward (if you see an opening in traffic, you knew someone was going to try to move into that space

biking in north carolina and/or texas was a wholly different experience - going with the flow/obeying traffic laws like a car actually increased the danger for 2 oddly different reasons. Sometimes drivers just didn't see you bc they're not used to cyclists; but then sometimes drivers get weirdly angry that bikes are on the road
in both situations it's better for a cyclist to be aggressive and seen

How dare they have to go around a cyclist! I used to ride my bike on a new road in our city, up until it started getting more vehicle traffic. When a cement truck decided to get too close to me when stopped at a traffic light, is when I quit riding that road. I just wanted to get some exercise and make it home safely. He wanted to show me who was boss of the road. He won. I hold no illusions on who will lose that battle between me and a cement truck. I did call the Cement company but I'm sure they fist-bumped the driver when they saw him. Good job dude!

the weirdest one for me - and this actually happened most in new orleans - is biking in the rain. people in cars act like they ar the ones getting wet and will roll through stop signs just to make sure they cross through an intersection before the rain soaked cyclist

That poor kid doesn’t have a chance
We have posters on here who have shared they came up in incredibly difficult/abusive home environments
I do think good parents usually produce good kids and vice versa, I’ve seen plenty counter examples to know parentage is not destiny

That poor kid doesn’t have a chance
This reminds me of when I was a child living overseas in Saudi Arabia. An Arab kid jumped out of the bushes and threw a broomstick through the spokes of my bicycle flipping me over and wrecking my face and bike. When my father and I went to the kids house for my dad to talk to his dad, my dad asked him why he did it and he responded, "Because you are American." This 7 yr old kid learned to hate somewhere, just like this kid here is learning to hate brown people.

Good job mom! You are surely making the world a better place by denying medical attention to your white son. Darwinism at its best.

A TikTok video has gone viral after a white woman called the police on two Black men for shoveling snow, claiming they weren’t showing her any “respect” despite their good deed.

Gregory McAdory, who uploaded the video to TikTok on Feb. 18, said in an interview with The Daily Beast that he and his friend have a snow removal business in Rockford, Illinois. He explained that on Feb. 17 they finished clearing his friend’s father’s driveway, then moved onto the sidewalk in front of the neighbor’s house. That’s when the neighbor came out and “bugged” up on them, threatening to call the police, he said.

“When the police is called on people of my color, just to be on the safe side, I just say, ‘Record,’” McAdory said.

In the video, McAdory and his friend are seen speaking with an older white woman as she stands on a sidewalk, holding a shovel.

“You’re seriously mad because we cleaned off your sidewalk?” asks McAdory.

The woman, who later identifies herself as “Brunny,” ignores McAdory’s question and moves shoveled snow back on the sidewalk.

“Don’t trespass that line!” she says with an accent, pointing towards a makeshift barrier made out of snow. “I don’t need anything from you!”

McAdory tries to explain to the woman that they are helping her. The friend re-shovels the snow off the sidewalk, and the woman calls the police.

“That’s trespassing property,” she claims.

“This is a public sidewalk!” McAdory tells her.

“Get out of my way,” she responds.

“I have an emergency,” she says on the phone call, claiming that the two men were bothering her. “These two guys are African American, and I don’t get along with them. …They are making fun of me. See, they don’t have no respect!”............
