Kellen Moore expected to be Saints coach [Feb 10 — Fletcher Mackel: mostly done deal; intro press conference to be later this week] (73 Viewers)

Interesting nuggets from Insiders.

Rapoport says deal can be announced tomorrow and some people on the new staff know they will be in New Orleans and are just waiting.

Garopolo says some coaches had a leap of faith, passing opportunities to work with Kellen Moore.

All of them command the job Moore did the last couple of weeks, preparing the Eagles and also building a staff.

We may have been waiting but we are going to have a rainfall of news.

One beautiful thing about the beat down the Eagles gave KC is now no one can claim that we distracted him or did anything improper. I'm sure the interviews got a bit annoying but it never got in the way of things.

I think he certainly has just as good of a chance of being successful as Ben Johnson, Coen, Schottenheimer, and Aaron Glenn. And maybe a better shot than some of them.
Statistically speakingy here’ the #’s.

7 new coaches hired in 2021 only 2 remain, Sirianni and Campbell. In 2020 it was 5, only Stefanski remains. In 2022 it was 10 and only 4( Daboll, O’Connell, McDaniel, Bowels) remain. Statistically speaking only 2 will be still employed in 3 years.

From 2020-2022, (22) coaches were hired. Only 7 coaches remain. Thats a 32% chance of hitting , 68% chance you get it wrong.

2025, 7 new head coaches, likely two will remain, possibly 3. Vrabel and Carrol are rehashes, gotta consider them favorites to still be employed based on history so that means only one of the new guys is likely to stick.

And, sometimes best situation means nothing.

Staley was voted as HC w/ best situation when he was hired by Chargers. It didn’t do diddly squat for him.

That means Ben Johnson isn’t a lock just because he picked best situation or is Moore in a worst situation for coming here.

I haven't been this excited since Drew was still playing. I hated the DA hire. I've hated the way the roster was managed while he was here and I hated that we couldn't develop any players for the last few years. I am so hopeful that the next era brings back respectability to the team and shrug off the attempt at becoming the Raiders that DA was doing.

I love this narrative.

as if we didn't develop Shaheed, Penning, Kool Aid, Turner, Werner, Adebo, McCoy and Ruiz in the past few years.

Look, I know it's easy to be POd the way things have gone, but there's no way you can discount injuries and the cap situation from your calculus.

We literally played guys who were delivering furniture as starters this year.

Oh, Not all of us have forgotten those days. Funny you bring this up. Excellent point btw. Watching the game last night, I made a comment about the naked Bootleg. Achie in my opinion was a master of it.
I was born in 1972 but didn’t really get into watching football until I was 5. In my house….it was Saints then Steelers because of my dad. He loved the Steelers of the 70s. I was privy to the late 70s and early 80s Saints. Archie was great at that. Those were the plays I remember most along with those side arm shovel passes.

Thanks for that research work EJW. Nice work. That’s really interesting.

Nothing official. I have to imagine he wants some time to soak all this in. Hopefully we hear something before the end of the week.
They mentioned today on NFL Radio that due to inclement weather throughout the week ….to include snow, the Eagles parade will be Friday. Can’t imagine that KM will stay in Philly that long waiting to participate in championship parade.

Snow has been a bit of a problem for us as of late.

We're talking about 4 years and this is the list you came up with that we developed? Most of these guys haven't really shown much improvement from their rookie years.

Shaheed has been good, but still a WR3 on most teams. Penning has been a disappointment and can't even playing the position he was drafted to play. Kool Aid has started 9 games and hasn't done anything at all yet. Turner is a bust. Werner makes some tackles, but isn't making Pro Bowls or anything. Adebo has been solid for where he was drafted, but again isn't making Pro Bowls or anything.

McCoy and Ruiz are both from the Brees era and don't apply.

Hopefully we’re one of the two that gets the hire correctly.
