Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Saints meeting Moore again after Super Bowl, Kellen Moore has begun working on assembling staff (27 Viewers)

The full context is that he may have come around because he is not expected to do much in year one. The Saints are offering coaches a reset year like the Broncos seemed to do for Payton with Wilson.

Right. It actually sounds like he was lukewarm on it until he was given some assurances. And now he’s ready to take it.

We’ll know for sure in 10 days.

It is telling, though, that Rizzi hasn't taken a job with another team, which I think he would if Moore being the HC was a done deal.

The Moore thing can't be a done deal because they can't even offer him the job until after the Super Bowl. It sucks having to wait, but if you want a coordinator from a Super Bowl team this is how long you have to wait. It looks like sheet in the press and on social media, but the Saints FO really does not give a sheet about bad press. They could have spun this by leaking info that they didn't want McCarthy or were not going to offer the job to Brady over Moore, but they do not care.

she also said there "was a little scuttlebutt" and a belief he "may have come around" "interview went really well" ... but man, it doesn't take much for some to hear what they want.

But Rizzi hasn't taken a job somewhere else, yet. And he likely would if Moore was definitely going to be the HC.

We can’t “officially” offer him until after the Super Bowl, meaning there will be no official reports of an offer.

If Moore wasn’t going to be our HC though, we would have our HC named by now.

Moore clearly hasn't turned the job down, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is going to take it. I think he will because he has not withdrawn his name from consideration, but nothing is guaranteed at this point.

This.

Also potential agent speak to get Gayle B to offer a few more $ mil.

It's possible. Thing is that they couldn't even have made an offer so they don't know the number. But, maybe they are trying to push of the initial offer?

February 10th press conference. Until then, nonsense reports and gossip. I’ve been following this league for too long to believe otherwise.

I guess they could have told Rizzi that they were going with Moore but that there was a chance that he could back out, and it wasn't certain. I guess it would make sense for Rizzi to stick around then. But if we hear that he's taken a job somewhere else, I think we will definitely know then. But I could make a good case for any of the guys they have left, so I'm good no matter what. I'm not even stressing over like many seem to be.

That would be the honorable thing to do if he really wasn't interested, and each day that goes by that he's not done that while others did drop out right around when he was interviewing would seem to indicate he wants it.

I think that is what is going to happen otherwise Moore would have already withdrawn his name from consideration and said that he wants to concentrate on the job in front of him which is winning the Super Bowl. But, it's still not done until it's done.

This is the second day of reports about bad things about the Saints from the Senior Bowl. Underhill recently reported that McCarthy was pissed that the Saints did not have interest in him and did not give him an interview. It makes me wonder if people close to McCarthy and/or McCarthy's agent are floating this kind of stuff to make McCarthy look good for "withdrawing his name" from consideration when the Saints actually had little to no interest in him.

I’m ready for FA/Draft already

I’m pretty much with you

If Moore takes the job, then he wants it and wants the challenge, no? And if he didn't realize that we had major challenges at QB, I wouldn't want Moore to get the job anyway. I want a guy that takes the job despite realizing the challenges and not being desperate to have any job, not a guy that takes the job because he doesn't understand the challenges and just wants any HC job.

I'm fine with Kafka if Moore doesn't take it. Not close to my first choice, but he could end up being a good HC given that he appears to have leadership and organization skills. But having to go with Rizzi would be a major blow IMO. Especially since the one real advantage to Rizzi in my mind was that he might have kept the offensive staff which is not really an option now and word is that Rizzi's plan is to bring in a bunch of expensive old coaches for his staff which I am really not a fan of.
Yes, that would be accurate, but by some accounts it's appearing as though he has to warm up to it, and still potentially may back out, suggesting doubt. If there's any doubt, if it's not an easy yes...why are you here?

Then again....Sean didn't want the job either initially so there's that.

I'm sure that Rizzi knows his situation and he doesn't have any other options for a HC job anyway. So, he's probably willing to wait it out realizing that the Saints can't really say any candidates are out until someone officially is taking the job. The same is the case with Kafka and Weaver who both already have jobs if the don't get our HC job.
