Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Saints meeting with Moore again after the SB, Kellen Moore has begun working on assembling coaching staff (86 Viewers)

Gotcha. Glad she quelled the worry there.
Thanks Spud.
This confused me...like him or not, Carr is still a solid quarterback. It isn't like New York or Tennessee where there are none. It is the rest of the roster he should worry about it.

It is telling, though, that Rizzi hasn't taken a job with another team, which I think he would if Moore being the HC was a done deal.
The Saints can't tell ANYONE it's a done deal. That's the NFL rules.

None of the other candidates that had 2nd interviews have withdrawn meaning they don't have an answer yet and we won't know until after the SB. This is still 50/50 he could accept or he could decline.

Where there's smoke, there's fire and these report aren't popping out for no reason. So there's reservation somewhere

Think they may have gotten it wrong w/ the candidate pool, or if they got it right and it is in deed down to 2 Rizzi may remain on the staff as Assistant HC/ST's coach
It's ONE person , Russini . She's the one that started this rumor to get clicks.
Everyone else is just re-reporting this and citing her as the source. AND she later tweeted that Moore is ok with everything

I didn't say he would go back to his old job as SC. I'm saying that he may be willing to risk waiting it out in hopes of getting the HC job. Really hard for Special Teams Coordinators to get HC jobs so he has to be patient. I think it's unlikely he would be kept here at the SC because of the reason you mentioned. But he may be willing to risk that he won't get a SC job this year for the shot at a HC job.

But, he can probably still get a SC job somewhere if he can't get the HC job here as long as it doesn't linger too long after the SB.
Rizzi may very well be a good HC, but I don't think he has the experience on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. He's never even been a position coach in the NFL or even a major college. I think he should take a position coaching job in the NFL and then maybe an OC or DC then I think he'll get a HC job

Yup. It's a shame some of us have become hesitant to post anything anymore because of so much vitriol that fills SR threads right now no matter what you post or what stance is taken is taken. It's not a place of enjoyment anymore. If you're not on one extreme side or the other, you're gonna get hate.
I think the issue is that there is so much bad click bait reporting out there and they all post ANYTHING with no repercussions. And people on here never vett them to see if they are qualified to say these things before re-posting it

I saw that earlier but didn't want to be labelled as hating the team and wanting them to fail, so I didn't post it.

Spot on. Just do your best to ignore the group that does it. And pray for em to become less miserable lol.

In 21 Moore had the #1 offense in the league , in 22 Dak missed 5 games and they were @ #10. McCarthy let him go because he said he was too pass happy and the offense scored too fast and didn't give the D time to rest.

He was not fired from the Chargers just not retained. When a new HC comes in like Harbaugh did it's almost NEVER that they keep the OC or DC. They all want their guys in

Hurts is not one of the better QBs in the league, he's about in the middle, he proved that last yr.

I'm betting that Moore sees us much like the Dallas team, Dak = Carr, AK = Elliot. Olave is a bit smaller version of Lamb, and Shaheed a Gallup type.
What he didn't have in Dallas was a Taysom.

Now we need to add a big contested pass catcher, which can be an X WR or a TE, preferably both. What I have gathered about Moore is he can adapt his scheme and style to the players he has
There’s controversial and then there’s absurd. Clearly Hurts is one of the better QBs in the league. Is he elite and in the same bracket as Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, etc? No but he’s definitely not in the middle either.

And those 4 Saints players you’ve listed aren’t remotely similar to the Dallas ones, so I highly doubt Moore sees us like them in any way. Comparing Shaheed to Gallup and Kamara to Elliott particularly makes no sense, they’re nothing alike. Also, given it’s 2024 and not 2016, Dak is clearly a level above Carr.

I like that his potential DC, Staley runs pattern match zone concepts. I think that's the way to go in the current NFL landscape

Pure zone spot dropping like what DA ran when we didn't play man tend to get eviscerated with QB's finding open spots rather easily, while pure Man schemes can be beaten w/ designed routes to get guys open (think rub routes or bunch formations to confuse) and they also tend to struggle against running QB's.

Patter match is a good mix betwen the two and allows for some flexibility. We'd instantly stop getting gashed by running QB's. That's for sure.

I like Wink Martindale but his scheme can get Rob Ryan level absurd and that's a drawback imho.

Edit: NVM...looks like Staley is being hired as Jaguars DC
edit2: NVM article headlines was as if he'd been offerend the job, its speculation on the writers part.
Jag's hired Anthony Campanile as their DC
