Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Saints meeting with Moore again after the SB, Kellen Moore has begun working on assembling coaching staff (109 Viewers)

So it looks like Moore will want to move on from Carr, as many are reporting could very likely happen anyway..

Does this mean our draft strategy could be changing significantly in going after a QB?

I'm not sure that he doesn't want Carr. He doesn't like our QB situation but that' doesn't mean he thinks Carr isn't our best option for this year. Word is the Satins told him they would be patient for a year. So, maybe he will want to keep Carr for a year and then move on next year? Or maybe he will want to use the patient year to see what he has in Rattler?

I would prefer to move on from Carr and see what Rattler has this year. I'm just not sure that is what Moore would want.

Even if that rumour is true, there are no Quarterbacks to go after in this draft. So, no, it shouldn't change the draft strategy at all.

I think all the possibilities remain open, even if he doesn’t like the QB room (why would he; he is 37 years old and doesn’t have a bonafide QB of the future on the roster).

1) We keep Carr and he plays Carr as the best QB on the roster for his offense. Carr probably remains on the team one more year only unless something crazy happens. Carr gets cut going into 2026’s season.

2) We keep Carr but he elects to start another QB such as Rattler or a new free agent QB. Carr likely demands a trade, which we may or may not be able to accommodate. This could also look like the team telling Carr that he will not be starting in 2025 to entice him to allow us to try and trade him. Either way, he would be difficult to trade given his contract and our lack of negotiating position.

3) We find a way to cut Carr, requiring us to restructure a lot of other players that I think we also wouldn’t want to restructure. But this might send the “message” that a new QB era is coming with this head coach.

In all scenarios I suspect that we will be looking heavily at this draft’s QBs but I’ll be shocked if we end up going QB in 2025. Much more likely we start Carr or Rattler and unless Rattler knocks our socks off, we are all in on a QB in 2026.

Kellen Moore is young, a former QB and by most accounts a smart guy.

My concerns are he was fired or let go in Dallas, fired in San Diego with the rest of their staff, then he landed in Philly. He has one of the better QB's in the league, the best RB and maybe a top 5 combo of WR's in Brown and Smith. He won't inherit that in NOLA.
He gets a middle of the road QB, a top 10 RB, an oft injured combo of receivers, aging defense and a mess of the salary cap. Is he the next Sean Payton? I'm not sure about that.

Can he lead the organization? Keep control of the locker room if the team goes 4-13 next year.
In 21 Moore had the #1 offense in the league , in 22 Dak missed 5 games and they were @ #10. McCarthy let him go because he said he was too pass happy and the offense scored too fast and didn't give the D time to rest.

He was not fired from the Chargers just not retained. When a new HC comes in like Harbaugh did it's almost NEVER that they keep the OC or DC. They all want their guys in

Hurts is not one of the better QBs in the league, he's about in the middle, he proved that last yr.

I'm betting that Moore sees us much like the Dallas team, Dak = Carr, AK = Elliot. Olave is a bit smaller version of Lamb, and Shaheed a Gallup type.
What he didn't have in Dallas was a Taysom.

Now we need to add a big contested pass catcher, which can be an X WR or a TE, preferably both. What I have gathered about Moore is he can adapt his scheme and style to the players he has

I'm not sure how I would feel about Brandon Staley as DC. He had 1 good year as Defensive Coordinator with a massively stacked Rams defense with Aaron Donald leading that defense. Then he took the head coaching job for the Chargers. He was play calling there and the following 3 years the Chargers were consistently a bad defense in all but 1 year, they were bottom of the average group.

Something to ponder. On one hand you could say perhaps he's really good at defense and an awful head coach like Dennis Allen. On the other, you can make an argument that even Donald Duck could've DC'd for the Rams and led a good defense in 2020
They had a good DL but all they really had in the secondary was Ramsey
Don't think they were as loaded as you think
Supposedly he's got a very good defensive mind

LOL I watched the podcast Russini seems like she has no real clue to what she's saying. 1st she says that there's scuttlebutt that Moore is not sold on the job because we don't have a young franchise QB. Then she hedges her bets by saying that Moore is coming around. SMH

I hope Loomis gets spurned for sitting in his comfort zone. Moore and DA are from a similar mold, and that's not what got us to our 1st SB. There was some friction between he and Payton that was soothed by their shared competitive spirit. Ultimately it lead to them growing weary of each other but still, getting out of your comfort zone is where Growth lies.

Give the job to someone who wants the damn challenge. Kafka was excited and we know Rizzi wants the job.
This is all coming from Russini's rumor reporting and no one else is saying this. They all are getting this from her. AND she hedges her bets and say but Moore is coming around to the idea. SMH. Sports reporting is at an all time low, it's how do I get clicks

Are you on the Saints payroll? I almost admire your commitment to water carrying at this point. No, she literally did not say that. “May” have come around to the job. Not the same.
Russini got what she wanted , she reported a rumor that NO ONE else has said and she even hedged her bet in the podcast by saying he WAS coming around to the job.
So she got everyone to repost her rumor and cite her as the source. Now everyone goes to her podcast and clicks on it ( That's all she really wanted )
After all that she then tweets this

I said on Scoop City there are concerns about the QB position but Moore worked through it knowing the Saints are giving him time and support if he gets the job.
