Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Saints meeting with Moore again after the SB, Kellen Moore has begun working on assembling coaching staff (87 Viewers)

One thing that we overlook is moore ability to find offensive talent. Especially qb. Payton had a good niche for finding talent
Not disagreeing with you but please list some examples for us!

All three of his last QB’s were on the team if I remember correctly.

If Moore is the coach and there are concerns about his ability to lead...I'm curious how Loomis going to support him.

In his exit interview he was asked a question about DA and he said that they felt there were things he could have done better to support him on, and being that one of those issues clearly happened to be leadership, I'd like to see if he learned a thing or two about complimenting that perceived drawback.

I've never watched Moore on sidelines, me and my GF looked a few interviews and she mentioned he didn't speak with much gumption (we watched Payton interviews from 06 for comparison) but we both agreed that Leadership doesn't have to be loud, and since there's no public data on how he is w/ the players internally (vs his interview style) any assessment based on a few vids is likely to be correct.

I'm excited to see this whole thing move forward, hopefully in the right direction.

He's obviously intelligent and I suspect there's more than meets the eye to him w/ regards to his demeanor.

I mean the ability to lead risk is with any 1st time HC....I think it's impossible to know really....I agree leadership doesn't have to be loud, but it has to be communicated clearly and strong enough to instill accountability....

I think Moore is the best available option right now and if he succeeds here, he is likely here for a while....we will see what happens

Even if that rumour is true, there are no Quarterbacks to go after in this draft. So, no, it shouldn't change the draft strategy at all.
Sure, there aren't any that people are calling a sure thing, but that doesn't mean there are none. Now getting one at the spots you're picking becomes more difficult when there are so few. And it's never really a sure thing so there are risks to selecting one. Especially if you had to move up to get one. So I agree with your conclusion that it should change the draft strategy. But if Ward were to somehow fall to 9 (he won't) or Dart was there at 40 you would have to consider drafting one of them.

It's ONE person , Russini . She's the one that started this rumor to get clicks.
Everyone else is just re-reporting this and citing her as the source. AND she later tweeted that Moore is ok with everything
I don't think you understand journalism and the concept of getting the scoop. She has the credentials to be able to get this story. She described the thought process behind Moore and the Saints job. She said that he had concerns about the QB position (could/should be true) and that Moore worked through it because he knew he would have a period to work that out. That is not outlandish at all and to call her out as someone that started a rumor to get click is off base.

Now if you want to take issue with Dov Kleiman's "Eagles OC Kellen Moore may not want the #Saints....." tweet, I can support that. I don't think it was a good characterization of what Russini said.

Moore's been on some teams with top offensive lines, I think that and QB will be addressed as priorities, otherwise why bring in a young offensive coach. I'm excited!

Trade down and get Dart and pick up an additional first.

No thanks. Let Kellen have a year with Rattler Haener and see what he thinks of them. If he wants a new guy the 2026 draft will be far better to get that guy in, especially when we should have a top 3 pick if the season goes the way it should.

I'd love to trade down into the late 1st, but I don't think we're getting an additional 1st to do that this year. Not enough in demand players at the top I fear. But we could for sure get an additional 2nd and 3rd this year and maybe a 2nd next year. Not only because it helps us get more players, but it also help us with the cap this year and next. Let use the Texans as an example.

Per the rookie wage scale on spotrac, our #9 pick costs $4,433,163 in the first year. Their #25 costs $2,761,337, #58 costs $1,296,909, and #89 costs $1,097,668. That gives us three new players for only $722,751 more than the one player we'd get at #9.

Depending on position, that would allow us to replace some players that make more money. Let's look at DT. Nathan Shepherd is on the last year of his contract. His cap number is $7 million this year with a dead cap of $4 million next year due to void years. We could cut Shepherd, draft a DT in the 3rd to replace him at a slightly lower cap number for 2025 and clear his dead money for 2026.

Jaxson Dart at #40 or #58 would cost nearly the same as we'd save by cutting Carr and would work nearly the same as with Shepherd.

These are the kinds of moves we need to make now to ensure the next coach has a fighting chance to build a good team by year 3. We're not going to be able to be good and get the cap straight at the same time, it's time to start widdling away at it with moves like these. Yes, we WILL have to do some trickery with some older players contracts to get under the cap for 2025. There is no free lunch here. But this is the way forward for a quick rebuild. More day 2 picks in exchange for our higher day 1 pick.

The Saints can't tell ANYONE it's a done deal. That's the NFL rules.

Exactly. Hence the Rizzi watch. If he takes a job somewhere else, he's been told that they have made a decision and it's not him. As long as he hasn't taken a job somewhere else, the HC job is still undecided.

Call me crazy, but if the Saints are going to spend time developing a young QB, I'd rather not spend time developing someone with a built-in handicap, his size, unless there's something elite physically or mentally about them that indicates that they can be truly special. That's neither Haener nor Rattler.

If the season goes the way it should, the Saints should be picking in the teens. I don't know where this top 5 pick comes from, unless the expectation is for Moore to be a really terrible HC. DA can go 7-9 and 9-7, and we're supposedly getting a better HC? And they will do even worse than this year with all the injuries and the HC gets fired? Why not just keep DA or Rizzi if that's the expectation? I don't get it. Anyone expecting a top 5 pick, WTF?

It depends on if they are sticking with Carr and selling the future for a team that just went 5-12 or if they're resetting some things and going with a younger QB. Either way, there are going to be a lot of changes and the team will not just pick up where it left off or revert to 2 years ago with just a different coach. The team is in transition and there is a lot of uncertainty about the direction we're heading. Top 5 is just as likely as 15th at this point.
