Video Kellen Moore on Spencer Rattler: “Good player, tons of tools. .. You want to make sure he’s going through the right process.” (1 Viewer)

I don’t see it personally. And I really wanted to because he’s pretty local to where I am and thought it would be cool. But I’ve seen nothing that says he’s even a viable backup. Maybe practice squad.
I didn't think he got a fair chance. One half of a game where Rattler had like 4 and half games. Most people gives Rattler all the reasons. Why not for Haener too? This is a fresh start for both players.

Haener wasn’t a rookie though, and he looked unplayable honestly. He has no pocket awareness and a so/so arm. I don’t see the upside. Maybe worth a roster spot, but he is not a potential starter.

Clearly Moore thinks that Rattler is talented but needs to see how he prepares, how he thinks through progressions in the QB room, etc. to determine if he has what it takes.

I wonder how much time he's spending with Rattler to get a feel for that between now and the draft and how much that might influence our decision making.
exactly. winston is super talented but not an nfl starter

Not a rookie but he never got a chance to play his rookie year. Suspended for 6 games. Not saying he will be a starter but he deserve a chance to see he if earn a spot here or on another team.

It's not just the 1/2 game, it's that I never really saw anything at all ever. Rattler has shown some good things and some meh things.

I’m not reading too much into anything Kellen Moore says. He gives generic coach speak answers to nearly everything regarding particular players. I was surprised to not hear that he was “excited to team up” like I’ve heard so many times in other answers. We’ll know what he thinks when we start seeing guys on the field.

I also couldn't help but think that some of it was him talking up the QBs on his team to make other teams think they might not take a QB ahead of them in the draft. He said he was excited to work with all 4 QB including DiNucci.

He probably does what to see what Rattler and even Haener can do in person, but I think he would have said the things he said today regardless.

The thing with Rattler I feel is not so much the win and lost but him not putting 4 quarters of solid plays. Let's hope this coaching staff can figure things out for him.
We need to move him to a project role and bring in a solid young g player. Let the coaches work with him and Heaner and see if they can develop their skills.

He looked solid in relief, but when defenses had a week to scheme for him…game over.

Had DA named him the #2 from the beginning, he would have gotten 2nd team reps since camp. Instead he put Haener at the 2 spot and then when it was time to start one of them he chose Rattler. It showed how dumb of a HC DA was.

I wasn't a fan of Kubiak after week 5. First two games gave me false hope but he was very stale throughout the season. I am happy he is not with us anymore.
I'm curious, what would you expect him to do with most of the OL out, Taysom out, Olave out and then Shaheedout and a rookie 5th rd pick as your starting QB

If we draft a QB Haener going to need to put his eggs in the UFL basket.

Couldn’t agree more. The week to week #2 QB situation was simply put straight stupidity.

I think you're the only one that thinks Rattler couldn't at least be #2 and you saying it more times hasn't convinced anybody that I can tell. Most people think he IS a solid young player. Maybe not the future of the franchise, but someone that could hold things down on a team that wasn't already destroyed by injuries.
