The guys that cover sports on WWL couldn't have that same job in a different city.

I've listend to Sports Radio in 6 different cities. Wilkerson and Deke are a catastrophe by the largest of margins.
The city of New Orleans deserve better.

True I have lived in Houston and Atlanta WWL drops the ball big time. But hey what do we expect no new young blood same ole same ole.

Tampa has the worst sports talk, that guy they have in the morning is unbearable.

That is why I loved Gerry V so much.
He showed respect to his callers,did stupendous interviews, and spoke clearly.

Sports talk in the rest of America is all soap opera and no substance. They only talk about the storylines and scandals. They hardly ever breakdown a matchup, talk strategy or basic Xs and Os. I feel WWL does for the most part.

I don't think he was Buddy's pet, but he seemingly doesn't command the type of respect to bring in some of the bigger named people in the industry to comment on the local sports scene, nor does he really know how to conduct a good interview when he does have a guest -especially the closing... he needs to learn how to lead a guest into wrapping up his own interview, other than saying "Well, thank for your time, goodbye!" -because sometimes the guest sounds startled that the interview is over..

Not to mention with national guys we hear 5 minutes of Saints and 20 of National Crap. He cuts people off because of the commercials every 30 sec. Someone good at interviewing gets the questions that are important answered quickly and completely. (no I am not good at it but then again I dont do it for a living)

Bobby Hebert isn't much better during these tiems either, because when a guest starts to make a point, Bobby starts rambling about an ancedotal story that sort of ties into what the guest was talking about, but usually eats up valuable air time that should be devoted to the guest..

To many Concussions but come on bobby is at least funny sometimes.

The second guess show is Bobby at his worst. I can't tell you how many times I've told Bobby to shut up, when Mike Detillier is tryignto make a point, and here comes the Cajun mouth, talking over him, not letting Mike finish his sentence, much less his point..

Mike should definately do this by himself Bobby has had to many concussions and at the casino he is just nuts.

But the point you referenced regarding Greg Olsen... I heard that, and was ticked. First off, if you can't talk about it, then don't mention it at all. Making a comment like that just feeds the ad hoc conspiracy theorists and makes people doubt the credibility of the host, the Saints, etc. Why do that? To make yourself sound like an "insider"?.

I know Kenny reads these boards, because he mentions this site on his show enough times, so I'm offering these comments as constructive criticism..

As far as hanging up on callers... I sort of sympathize with him, because I've heard some pretty idotic things come out of callers, so he's held them on longer than I would have, but Kenny should challenge them a bit more with logical questions, not arrogant/belligerant assertions that someone is just wrong.

But he hangs up on eople sometimes because he does not like the suject he wants to talk about. Like a month ago a caller was talking about FA and Kenny was buisy with something like his bowling score and they hung up on the guy.

well, callers are screened before they get on the air....so any stupidity is the screener's fault and is likely done on purpose....it makes the hosts appear more intelligent

Im going to to tell the truth, WWL only caters to one type of audience. It's a gimmick "Cajun Sports talk".

After Buddy passed the station went into a panic mode. Buddy had that it factor that touched everyone crossing race gender age etc. Sure he got under some folks skin but the man was Real.

Bobby is a good dude but we did'nt need a knock off or copy cat Buddy. The station should have infused newer younger talent with a fresh delivery and perspective.

Gerry V was a savior for New Orleans sports talk. The guy actually talked sports, and knew what he was talking about. As far as I'm concerned, Kenny has ZERO credibility when it comes to sports...I have stopped listening to WWL completely except for gamedays...too much crap to deal with, not to mention the number of commercials...good lawd!

I really don't listen to them that much and when I do, they don't annoy me as much as they do some of you. I guess I don't pay much attention to them because my Saints info comes from SR.com. I find that for the most part, we know as much or more about football than they do. Now, they might get info from the horse's mouth but we have some intelligent posters on this board that can talk Saints football with anyone.

Living in Beaumont, and getting 97.5 the ticket from Houston, its night and day to what come son WWL. You'd think NO's sports talk was a high school football show from some county with 50,000 people in it somewhere. The production quality and the on air talent are terrible. WWL is so dull. No humor, the hosts sound depressed, they are all old men, and several of them have very strong accents, which whether you like it or not, is not professional at all and it comes across that way. After 1pm in houston its local sports talk all the way until midnight and it all sounds just as good as the national ESPN stuff.
