Kicker Connor Barth to sign with Saints (1 Viewer)

Thank God we signed this guy. Now go ahead and release Forbath, no reason at all to waste a roster spot with him since we have the kid from Samford for competition.

K Connor Barth signed now

Rotoworld is reporting the signing, maybe the Mods can amend the title of this thread to reflect that.

Saints signed K Connor Barth.
He will compete with Kai Forbath. That is, if Forbath keeps his roster spot. Neither player was particularly great in 2015, though Barth was better, converting 23-of-28 field goal attempts for the Bucs.

The only bad thing about Barth is that he rarely gets a touchback, so we know Moorestead will have to continue to handle the kickoffs, and didn't he indicate that he would prefer not to continue to kickoff?

Amen! I'll take someone who can make a gimmie from inside 40 and who is 86% from 40-49 all day!!!

Everyone shouldn't be stressing for a 35yd kick like we have been.

That's all a man can ask for lol.... Just tired of watching the 25-30 yarder's in fear.

Totally agree. A 30 yard Field Goal shouldn't be an edge of your seat, nail biting roller coaster of emotion. Yet for the past several years that's exactly what we've had to live through. For the love of God, please let Barth be the Kicker we've been waiting for all these years. He's either going to be the guy or just the next guy in long, sad list of names best forgotten:

John Carney
Billy Cundiff
Martin Gramatica
Olindo Mare
Garrett Hartley
Taylor Mehlhaff
John Kasay
Shayne Graham
Zach Hocker
Kai Forbath

Meh... This is just like every year when we go out and get a veteran kicker that some team/teams no longer want. At least he's better than Forbath!! If he's another John Kasey then at least we won't have to worry inside 40yds.

Boy do we miss John Kasay. He was easily the best kicker we've had here under Payton and probably the best overall since Morten. Too bad we got him when he was so old though. Wow was he automatic.

While i completely understand their business reasons for doing so, choosing Hartley over Kasay before the 2012 season started was a mistake. I think they were still holding out hope that Hartley was gonna be the kicker for the next decade or so.

He will miss one crucial kick this season and Coach will hire another kicker to push him. He misses one more and he is gone. Sean has no patience for kickers man. Not since The Kid. Its a revolving door. He doesn't put up with mediocre kickers at all.

I like that he comes from a division rival. Maybe he will have something to prove (Morten anyone?)
