Larry Fitzgerald goes to bat for Sean (1 Viewer)

We have people here demanding the 3, and cardinals "insiders" saying the saints have no leverage and they're only willing to give up a third.

So... about right.
Saints can always say no this year & next. Won't get anything for Payton, but all of these teams that want him will be right back on the revolving coaching carousel.

If you think we will get 3 you are going to get your feelings hurt. Our best bet would be their 2 this year and a 1st next year.
I know that popular opinion but the three make even. I'm fine with the two-year plan but we need a first this year that's the issue. Maybe a conditional pick next year because I doubt they suck after his first year.
Think about trades we have seen from teams trying to get into the top 3 in the past. It has required MAJOR compensation just to go from like 10 to 3, usually a future first round pick and then some.

If SP is reasonably worth a mid first round pick, then using him to get pick 3 likely requires us to throw in a sweetener.

If it was announced tonight that we are trading SP and next year’s first for pick 3, I honestly would not be upset. I don’t think it is quite understood how high those top 3 picks are valued.
True but the pushback against Sean's declaration was a mid 1st, that's all. They don't have additional first and don't need a QB. A third settles the discussion my view and Mickey needs to get proper compensation. These people on zona saying just a 3 are on that stuff.

Until some how next year we are demolished by injuries yet again and finish bottom five how would you feel then

What’s the difference in risk if we owned our #10 pick this year and we were to trade that plus next year’s first (and likely much more) to get into the Top 3?

I've been saying this for a while. If its AZ we're probably not getting the #3 And I'm ok with that because I would not want Young, Stroud or Levis @ #3. I see them as not really franchise QB's worthy of that high a pick. I'd prefer we get a 2 this yr and a 1 and 3 next yr. My reasoning is that I don't think DA will be our HC after next yr. And having 2 1st round picks next yr could put us in a position to get Williams or Maye who I think will be franchise QB's

I agree, but getting their HC while we get our QB would be ultimate coup. Loomis said Payton is a friend, but also an asset to improve our team.

#3 or fail

Agreed. Loomis knows he’d be better off letting Payton walk for nothing in 2 years than taking a bad deal now.

From a value standpoint, on paper, what you are saying makes sense. But I'd puke if we surrendered another future first under this coaching staff.

If this QB class was loaded and we were guaranteed a profilic QB prospect at 3, sure. (Even though I hate the idea of our future franchise QB developing under this staff.) But this class is not it, there's Bryce Young and a huge drop-off after that. Stroud is not that guy. And then we go and talk about the 2024 class which is shaping up to be really really really good - there's no shot that I'd let our own first slip away with Dennis Allen coaching this team. Especially considering that we were just a few plays away from being 4-13 this year.

Yeah, if Loomis gives up another 1st just to get the 3 spot from the cardinals, he should be run out of town immediately. The goal is to add pics for the team, not subtract.

And that’s why Larry Fitzgerald is the GOAT!!!

Am I doing that right LeBron fans???

On a serious note:
I 100000% approve Larry’s message and take
Hey nah! Leave old GOAT James out of this! 😂😂😂

- For the Eagles to go from pick 8 to pick 2 in 2016, they had to give up pick 8, their 3rd and 4th rounder in 2016 + their 2017 first and 2018 second.

- In 2018, for the Jets to merely go from pick 6 to pick 3, they gave up pick 37 and 49 in 2018, along with their second round pick in 2019.

- In 2021, to go from pick 12 to pick 3, the 49ers gave the Dolphins their first round and third round pick in 2021, and their first round pick in 2022.

In conclusion, you ain’t getting pick #3 merely for the rights to Sean Payton.

I know people say the Saints won't get the #3 pick back in a trade, I understand where they are coming from. If, they somehow get that pick they better not send anything back. I think the amount of net compensation the Saints are looking for, at a minimum, is about 1,300 draft points. That would be pick #10 overall.

Arizona has pick #3, 2,200 points.
Second Round #34 overall, 560 points.
Third Round #66 overall, 260 points.
Fourth Round, #98 overall, 108 points.

If you consider their 2024 1st round pick, and assume it is pick #16 (middle of the round), you have to take that present value as 420 points, pick #48 in the second round. NFL teams almost always take a future pick at the value of the round earlier in the present year.

Get close to 1,300 points WITHOUT using pick #3 overall:

Cardinals Second Round Pick in 2023 (560 points), Cardinals Third Round Pick in 2023 (260 points) Cardinals First in 2024 (420 points, "worth" a mid round second round pick in 2023) Total of 1,240 points.

If it goes down with Cardinals, this is my prediction: 2023, 2nd and 3rd, 2024, 1st.

Saints need to give NOTHING back, not a future 4th rounder, NOTHING! Saints could likely flip that 2023 2nd and 3rd (820 points), into something around pick #21-22 (800-780 points) overall in 2023. Loomis loves to trade up. So then, you could say, the Saints traded Sean Payton for...TWO first round picks, lol.

Nice work. Agree all around.

Maybe we tell them we need the 3rd overall now and will send them our 2 and/or a future pick in exchange. But yeah, I think you’re looking at it exactly like Loomis is. From a points perspective.

Nah, no GOAT about it. He’s not even at the table😂
I won't bumrush this thread with talk about Bron. But not at the table? That's ridiculous homie!
