Late 80-Early 90 NBA....... (3 Viewers)

Hakeem Olajuwon has to be one of the most underrated players of all time. He was truly amazing. People on here talking about the Knicks hahaha

jordan
magic

It was a Golden Era of basketball.

We’ve established that the pistons suck

and while Ewing was the reason I became a Knicks fan, it was John starks that I loved
but being a knicks fan of that era was like being a dome patrol saints fan - always so frustratingly close and one team of destiny always in the way
The Pistons sucked!! LOLOL

Knicks vs Bulls was GREAT basketball in the playoffs and they did not like each other at all. While I liked the Bulls, I liked John Starks on the Knicks; dude was a baller!!

As a die hard Hawks fan, hated the Celtics, Pistons and Bulls.

30 years later, total respect for all 3 of those squads.

And the Pistons bad boy documentary was absolutely outstanding.

And as far as physical efforts....

1. Emmitt Smith rushing for 168 vs Giants in 1994, all after separating his shoulder in the first half. He was in extreme pain but battled through. That injury today puts guy out 4-6 weeks immediately.

2. Isaiah Thomas, 1988 NBA finals vs Lakers....game 6 in LA. On a severely hobbled ankle, IT scored 25 in the 3rd quarter alone on basically 1 leg.

No way anything close to those two happens today.

My team back then was the Portland Trailblazers. I loved Clyde Drexler and Cliff Robinson. Danny Ainge spent a few years there, too. Drexler was so good, but always overshadowed by Jordan.

It was an incredible decade....full of huge Hall of Famers, but they were all overshadowed by Michael.

Dumars was the only one on that team who seemed like an actual functioning human being

Agreed, I would argue he was at least as valuable to the Pistons success as Isaiah....Dumars always guarded the other teams best G....

The OP states late 80's/early 90's so Bird/Magic were at the end of their careers....to me they saved the NBA, paved the way for that eras new great players (and there were alot of them, most of them mentioned in this thread)....

ugh gmr, you should not have pushed this.

to name a few: joe dumars, vinnie johnson, bill lambier, dennis rodman, and the goat, isiah thomas.

Rick Mahorn will find you, rip off your fingers, then use them to type his name on that list.
