Lets talk Williams (2 Viewers)

The only hate I remember Ingram receiving early on was due to the fact that you had better runners on the roster and Ingram was getting more carries than them. You could argue it's because he was a favorite, 1st round pick, etc.

Once those guys left and Ingram was the sole focus of the offense, we as fans had no choice but to pull for him. To his credit he ended up being a much better player later on down the line.
There were many and I mean many posts about Ingram being a bust at the end of his first year.

And it all started with letting Murray walk...
The Saints did not let Murray walk. As a veteran on the Practice Squad at the time, Murray was a free agent. He chose to sign with Denver. And IIRC at the time he said he did so because he wanted more opportunities.

I'm not sure why there is this widespread notion that players do not have agency in their careers. They pick teams just like teams pick them.

Another example is Krull this offseason. He cleared waivers. So, he was a free agent that chose to sign with Denver.

This is just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't have paid $12 million for a short yardage back. Now if he was running like Jamal Anderson, I would be totally fine with that.

I think the idea was to avoid having Kamara do all the dirty work and keep him from getting so beat up. So, in a sense it's more about allowing Kamara to do what he does best, but still have someone you trust to get that 4th and 1 when the game is on the line.

I get it, I definitely understand the approach because I never viewed Kamara as that kind of runner anyway. However I wouldn't have paid that amount of money for that skillset though, especially considering that RBs are dime a dozen.

From the little I saw of Mariweather, he appears that he could fill that role. But that was the small amount that i've seen from him.

Jamaal is a good football player. He's a great teammate.

There were times last year where AK looked distracted (understandably). Some games he ran like he was shot out of a cannon and others like he wished he was somewhere else.

I think bringing in Williams helps create a solid support system for AK who by all accounts is looking to put last year behind him and rededicate himself to his craft. The relationship that Jamaal had with Aaron Jones in GB was very reminiscent of rookie AK and Mark Ingram. I think his value is more than just on the field.

He's also a pretty good player, if not a lead back every week.

Yep. People talking about the fumble. I don't care who you are, or how you're carrying the ball, if the defensive players punches that ball at the right angle, it's coming out.

If you choose to be the only RB in the NFL to not wear gloves, people are going to call out your fumbles :hihi:

Wrong season:

We let Murray go in 2021 because of money and made Tony Jones RB2 (smh).

Why are people hyping Miller when he has done nothing besides be hurt? He shouldn’t even be mentioned until he plays a game without getting hurt.
is it hype if the player is talented and will help the team, or is it hate because your upset the player is not available for you to cheer for because deep down inside you like the pick?

Simply not true. Dan Campbell didn’t want to let him go at all, and the GM didn’t either. They offered him the same deal Montgomery got. The only reason they even offered Montgomery was because Williams was taking a while to decide and they didn’t want to lose out on both him and Montgomery.

I’m not saying you’re wrong about him being an average back or anything like that, but the Lions tried to bring him back and certainly weren’t happy to let him go. No matter if Williams felt they low balled him or not.
It sounds like the deal they offered him wasn’t enough for Williams. So they gave Montgomery the same deal and let him go. Splitting hairs.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Williams and I’m glad we have him. Would I rather Montgomery at the same price? Yes. Just like the Lions.

No it’s over hype, he’s number 3 on our depth of everyone is healthy. Besides his off-season interviews he hasn’t done anything to jump anyone. As much as I like any rookie, they have to prove it on the field not during interviews. If you are gonna say you’re taking AK spot, back it up.

It’s week 2 my man.

The fact this has to be explained is concerning.
