Live Action Cowboy Bebop (3 Viewers)

Watched the first episode and it wasn't bad at all

So you know how I kept saying I had no idea how to feel about this based on the trailers? Well now I'm actually watching it and I still have no idea how to feel about it.

I think they assembled a great cast that does well with what they're given and stuck then in such a bizarrely over the top cartoonish aestetic that it's like someone mashed two completely different shows together.

I don't hate it, but it feels weird and I'm not sure what it brings to the table.

I just don't think anime works well in live action. I've yet to see proof that it can.

I am on the third session and so far I am enjoying it. The biggest compliment I can give it is that it is a sincere attempt to honor the cartoon instead of some butt crevasse director preferring to put his interpretation or spin on it

I would agree that it is done with loyalty to the original.

And like I said, I don't hate it.

But it does kind of feel like I'm reading a poorly xeroxed version of an original document, or something like that.

I can understand that

Netflix has already cancelled this. Not surprising. Reception was terrible and indications are most people didn't finish the season after starting it, which is a metric Netflix looks at for early renewals. The fact that it got cancelled so quickly means those numbers must have been terrible.

For me, my early kind of mixed feelings on it turned to pure hatred by the time I finished it. Thought it was terrible, and I take back everything I'd said about it being relatively faithful to the original. That's true for the first few episodes, then sheet goes off the rails hard by the end.

Anyway, it's dead now. Go watch the original and forget this ever happened.

I watched two episodes, it was just okay. But I stopped watching b/c I had an idea to watch it concurrently with the anime' to see how close it was to the source material, but I never got around to it yet. I still might though

This was it for me. It was entertaining, but I have better options right now. I plan to come back to later.

Had it blown me away, I’d have binged it.

Is it just live action versions of the anime or are they doing their own thing?

Think i got sidetracked after 4 or 5 episodes. At that point, Vicious is the weak spot for me
