Major League Baseball 2024 (2 Viewers)

The wildest thing about that was that it was his only at bat in the series - he could barely get around the bases.

So yeah a walk-off comeback 2-out HR is very similar. But Gibson’s was a pinch hit by the team’s injured star/leader. That’s two extra layers of legendary.
I am still pissed at Gibson for that.

I loathe the Dodgers and I even have to admit that was amazing
I loathe the Dodgers and their fans as well, but not as much as I loathe the Great Satan that is the Yankees (and their horrible, entitled fans), so I smiled when Freeman slaughtered them with that grand slam.

I hope they win the series for Valenzuela, a great player and great human being...and to heap more insult on the most disgusting franchise in all of professional sports.

But I still HATE the fact that the series is between the two franchises who yearly cheat the system to overspend the rest of the league. While it's "within the rules" as they are, it's still cheating in reality.

I'm sure that New York is going to roast Aaron Boone for this. When they said that they're intentionally walking Betts to get to Freeman I couldn't believe it.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Ohtani foul out allow the runners to advance to 2nd and 3rd, because the fielder fell into the stands and was not allowed to throw the ball back into play, per MLB rules (runners are limited to 1 base as I understand it)?

I can “kinda” see walking the bases loaded to set up a force out situation, but I don’t get having a reliever out there who hadn’t pitched in over 30 days.

Again, if I’m misremembering, correct me. I was mostly asleep at the time.

That's what happened. The problems began with the ex-cub factor, Gleyber Torres goofing a ground ball. An out there would have allowed the Yankees to intentionally walk Ohtani to get to Mookie Betts with that pitcher who is awesome against right handed batters. Instead, they walked Betts and brought in a guy who hadn't pitched in a long time who isn't even a relief pitcher.

Even with the goof at second base, I don't like walking Betts to get to Freeman.

Well, how many chances did Darrell strawberry get ? It pales by comparison?
He had to work very hard and it took some time for him to fully rehabilitate his image, prestige to win back most of the accolades, respect and admiration he sort of blew and lost with his substance abuse issues with the Mets in the early-to-mid 90's.

This celebrity massively screwed up the National Anthem while also drunk when she should've been in a rehab clinic drying out and getting her life back in order.

Being invited back by MLB to do it again after just 4 months is too soon, IMHO. Maybe invite her back to sing the National Anthem to open next year's All-Star Game or 2025 WS Game I, give her some extra time to ensure she's stays off the booze and doesn't fall off again and continue with the career.

That would make more sense then rushing her back so soon after embarassing herself terribly almost 4 months ago singing a notoriously tricky song to get right.

Is it me or is he morphing into Joe Torre before our eyes ?
At least Joe Torre won a few WS in the mid-late 90's and 2000 before his Yankees began their near-decade long slide in the 2000's of WS near-misses, legendary ALCS collapses in 2004 to the Red Sox and then just reaching his breaking point with late George Steinbrenner and then coaching out 2-3 years as Dodgers manager before retiring.

Despite a solid record, as a manager, this is Aaron Boone's first trip to the World Series and the first for the Yankees since Obama's first year in office (2009), 15 years. Meanwhile, this is Dave Roberts' 4th trip to the WS as Dodgers skipper in the past 8 seasons while he's become one of the winniest MLB managers over the past decade.

I meant how he looks in the dugout

All in all, that's a great, relatable "legendary manager" Boone could resemble and Torre, AFAIK, is a HOF manager. He did a good job with the Braves in the early 80's, too.

It could always be worse like resembling Billy Martin, an incorrigible, perpetually drunk, hungover, and burnt-out miserable shell of a human being who was hired and fired by Steinbrenner so many times during the 1980's that was one of many various factors that turned Yanks into a laughing stock, a pathetic joke that got so bad by the late 80's, MLB actually took the running and management of his team away from the "The Boss" for a couple of years.

Shohei just broke himself.
