When the Saints announced a couple of months ago that they had signed a safety that had been playing in Canada I immediately went searching for any highlight clips or information on the guy and what I found was very very impressive so I posted a highlight clip of him here.

Ball makes the final 53 unless he is injured or just totally forgets how to play football. He's big, he's rangy, he's very aggressive and has a knack for finding the ball plus the fact that he hits like a tank!!

The secondary is going to be dangerous this season. Pick your poison NFL.....:ezbill:

Dude reminds me of a young Troy P. (in his CFL highlights anyway). If he comes close to duplicating his CFL exploits : Byrd, Ball and Vacarro would trump any safety trio in the league.

Far as what I've seen, Vaccaro, Byrd, Bush, and Ball are locks. Sunseri and Warren are duking it out for the last spot, if we go there. There is a spot where we could see the infamous mysterious injury and seeing the other guy go on IR rather than have him get picked up by the Falcons.

I just don't see how you keep 6 safeties without sacrificing depth in your front 7. Six corners I could see, but not 6 Safeties. We need to keep our front 7 stacked!

When it's game time injuries happen in the trenches. If that battle is lost then running backs will get to the second level which exposes Lofton & Hawthorne's lack of of side to side range (which is why I hope Fortt makes the cut). Bottom line, our uglies up front and our LB'ers are the most underrated component of our success. We will not win if they fail.

Now imagine an injury to Junior or Jordan and you are facing Aaron Rodgers, Manning or Brady. Your pass rush will live and die by that position's depth and an NFL Offensive Coordinator would just chip or double the #1 guy and take his chances with his starter against your #2 on the other side. Do you want to play one of those Quarterbacks and give them a 2nd level running game or all the time in the world to throw the ball?

When the bright lights really come on we will see who is more than just a "Camp Body." We have great depth in the Defensive backfield, but we need to find a way to stash some on the PS. I like the lineup of Byrd, Vacarro, Bush and Ball. All three are good hitters and versatile enough to line up in several spots on the field. I can see Sunseri taking the 5th spot because of his Brain and his ST play. If your 5th guy is seeing big time snaps he better be a very smart player because he obviously isn't a player with supreme physical gifts or else he would be starting.

6 safeties is a possibility because of their versatility. Obviously there would be fewer CBs. It's about getting the best players on the team and on the field. I'll let Ryan worry about where to play them.

since we are lacking at LB I say yes, we could see a lot of byrd at FS, Bush at SS, KV at Nickel corner and Ball at LB.

Most Deff

I must say that I am very impressed with what he brings to the table. We have a lot of talent in the secondary, but the dude seems to be a "gamer."

Does he make it on the Saints' final roster, or not?

:gosaints:

Its Not Even A Question , Rob Ryan Love Smart Speedy Football Player And If You Ask Me And Knowing Rob He Will switch His Position If He Has To ,To Get Him On The Field:h7::saintshelmet::bandg::bravo-applaudi-147:

I think we could afford to have fewer corners due to Vaccaro's versatility. He can play nickel.

Going with only two QBs is an option as well.

I have been impressed with Warren, I think he goes to the practice squad. Ball is a lock, Ryan can you use him in multiple sets when needed and he packs a punch on special teams.

I like Marcus, I just don't know whether or not the team plans on keeping 6 safeties and if they like Warren better. This is where an extra roster spot will GREATLY come in handy. AHEM Griffin winning the #2 job.

I'll hold my opinion until after a few preseason games. Hard to decide on who we should cut or keep based on one quarter of preseason play.

Also, keep in mind, Ball can play LB. He's been playing as an in the box safety and nickel/dime LB all training camp and in the game last week. He is a versatile piece that holds a lot of value.

As Rob Ryan said, we are going to get crazy this year with our personnel alignments. 4 safety sets anyone?

Didn't we try moving Cie Grant to linebacker (he was a safety at OSU), and wasn't Sammy Knight a linebacker at USC? Ball has the size to play linebacker if he wants.

A little pee came out of me.
