Roll #22 Mark Ingram!

Great win, the first one on the road, for our beloved Saints. I was pleasantly surprised by the play calling of Sean Payton, as he continuously run the damn ball down the Eagles' throats. Moreover I'm really happy for #22 Mark Ingram, who showed up BIG TIME, in the starter role, with the following stats:

18 runs for 97 yards, 1 TD
3 receptions for 17 yards

So I hope that we (well, actually the "Ingram' haters") can finally put up to rest all the talks about his lack of production or him "being a bust" (or simply "inefficient"...you know, I usually like TCUDan analysis, but IMHO he is/was way off on #22). So now let's go to Seattle and avenge our Monday Night loss against the Seahawks. Who Dat!

Anyone who ever slings crap about Ingram again after today deserves to die in a fire.

When it counted most, when running matters most, in a cold weather road playoff game, he came through big time.

It is easily the best road rushing performance for a Saint in our 47 year history.

Here's the history of the top rusher in each of our road playoff games:

1/6/1991 Gil Fenerty 8 for 29 (3.6 ypc) Hilliard 4 for 13 (3.3 ypc) Heyward 4 for 10 (2.5 ypc) Fourcade 2 for 13 (6.5 ypc) 0 TDs for all
1/6/2001 Aaron Brooks 5 for 29 (5.8 ypc) RBs: Chad Morton 5 for 25 (5 ypc) Ricky Williams 6 for 14 (2.3 ypc) Terry Allen 1 for 1yd 0 TDs for all
1/21/2007 Reggie Bush 4 for 19 (4.8 ypc) Deuce 6 for 18 (3 ypc) Karney 1 for 11 (11 ypc) 0 TDs For all
1/8/2011 Julius Jones 15 for 59 (3.9 ypc) 2 TDs Reggie Bush 5 for 12 (2.4 ypc) 0 TD
1/14/2012 Chris Ivory 9 for 23 (2.6 ypc) 0 TD Pierre 1 for 6 0 TD Sproles 3 for 3 0 TD
1/4/2014 Mark Ingram 18 for 97 (5.4 ypc) 1 TD

I've been neither an Ingram basher, nor an Ingram defender. I've mostly waded past the 10 bazillion threads on him. Now single game criticism, whatever, that's fine, but the BS of bashing him as a bust has got to stop now. Today is the final nail in that coffin.

Robinson deserves some love, too. He's a rookie who ran well. Averaged like 5.6 ypc. Even Sproles averaged 7+ per carry. It was a beautiful thing to watch.

Seattle may pay a little attention. They are such an arrogant team.

Man Ingram and Robinson did a phenomenal job, and let’s give it up for the offensive line as well, they created the running lanes. And unlike the previous road losses the offensive line had the strength and energy to finish strong.<O:p</O:p

Who Dat!<O:p</O:p

Pound Ingram/Robinson until they can't be pounded no mo'. We can't go into Seattle with the same game plan as last time.

Our OL has improved dramatically in the rushing department since we inserted Armstead as the LT....

They deserve some of the credit...

MI, KR, & Sproles were huge for us tonight.

Need some quick feedback on Ingram's performance tonight, as by TCU Dan. Wonder if he still feels Ingram is the #4 RB?

A game or two does not greatness make. However, his vision, determination, and production was really impressive. We ran the ball right at them and had a ton of success doing it. Robinson was really good too. He reminds me of watching Deuce his first year while Williams played.

It's been like 5-6 games in a row now. I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt now.
