Meanwhile Sean Payton is Sean Paytoning in Denver {Thread from September Bumped } (5 Viewers)

I don’t understand how Payton was able to adjust and do such solid work with Winston and even Teddy Bridgewater., but not really seem to learn much from that.

Balance is your friend.
"And even" Teddy Bridgewater?

I get that he ultimately ended up as a career backup, but let's not pretend he was some undrafted or late round rando who happened to look impressive enough in preseason to make a team. He was a first round pick who ended up making a pro bowl and started a playoff game.

You can see the moment that the NFL has passed a coach by... Payton might be washed if he doesn't figure it out next year... With probably a new QB lol

Payton's too busy trying to hire all his friends who clearly have no business being NFL coaches anymore as his assistants instead of getting a clue and bringing in a real staff. He's everything wrong with cronyism and while I love all Payton did for the Saints, Payton is the reason the Saints only won one Super Bowl with Brees.

Kubiak system looks so much better….i really like our new offense better than Payton’s.
Paytons offenses had their time and were extremely effective, but more and more people are seeing it was because Brees made it easy. He was one of the greatest to ever play the game and could execute the most complex formations. Brees was an alien 🤣 Now with more normal qbs you see the deficiencies because his schemes have some dated exploits.

I refuse to ever be part of using “Sean Paytoning” as a verb unless it means winning Super Bowls and having , for the most part, consistently high-functioning teams.. because those are the main things he did in NOLA .. ill continue to root for him when his team isn’t playing against the Whodats, because when i was a kid i prayed to god every night for a Saints Super Bowl, i asked Santa Claus every year for a Saints Super Bowl.. that fat bastid Santa never came through for me, but Sean Payton and Drew Brees did… Never forget .

We finished the game the same way we started the game and that was that we ran the ball more than we threw the ball!
KK is committed to the run and to spreading the field with the wide zone read runs. That sets up play-action. It's wonderful to watch!!!!!!!!!!!!

But you know if Denver fires him.and he wants the HC job back, FO will take him back in a heartbeat.
honestly, the only way it could work again is if Dennis Allen went back to full DC and I dont think he would given his current success at HC position. He is currently leading the statistical best team in the league by a wide margin and that is him proving doubters wrong. If he keeps winning he should stay. He has clearly found someone who will keep the offense humming while he does what he knows best.

Remember the hot take about SP's genius being exaggerated because of the greatness of Drew Brees? Theory was that SP was a good OC but Brees was the most accurate passer in NFL history and it made SP seem greater than he actually was.

I never put too much stock into that theory but it's hard to ignore what SP has done without Brees. It's hard to ignore what this offense is doing without Pete and SP's system. Basically the same roster and they're out there making the impossible look easy.

Remember last year when Pete would just call random go routes on 3rd and short? God that was frustrating. The players had to win despite the system. Now they find themselves in a system that actually compliments their ability.

It’s interesting because the 2021 season showed that Payton could adapt to his talent and still call effective plays. He leaned on his running backs and seemed less inclined to throw it until his QBs arm fell off.

But his team just looks like a mess and his offensive play calling seems really unimaginative. But that could just be that Denver really has very little talent.
Right, always some reason his team fails to live up to expectations. Coach up a team, evaluate and get talent.

Bill Vinovich and Gregg Williams have entered the chat.

I have no ill feelings towards Sean. He played a massive part in this franchise turning things around, and helped us win a Super Bowl. He was never a drag on this team.

Pete Carmichael however….that man is the new Rick Venturi. How he has a job only speaks to his photography skills.
