Michael K Williams (Omar from The Wire) RiP (4 Viewers)

He also brought the Snoop character to the wire, he brought her Felicia Pearson to the set after meeting her in a bar

she essentially played herself her nickname “Snoop” was her real nickname given to her by guy who looked out for her and helped her when she was in jail
I can’t count how many times I’ve randomly pulled the clips up of Omar Little testifying at Bird’s trial and Snoop going to purchase a new nail gun. I mean just as recently as Monday.

Tough news. Very talented man to lose so young.

One of my favorite actors ever. Omar Little is arguably one of the greatest tv characters ever and that may not have been the case in the hands of a lesser man. Truly brilliant in The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, and Lovecraft County. All very layered and complex characters. We all lose to not see him do the work of his future greatness,

I hope this message comes across the way I intend it...

I think the best compliment I can give Michael K Williams is that I completely didn't think about Omar being gay as part of his character. I mean, he obviously was, but I honestly forgot about it until I read an article the other day that mentioned it. Many times, homosexuality is a focal part of a character, but MKW seamlessly blended it along with all of his other traits.

Just a superb job developing the character.

Indeed. I really liked how he didn't make a thing of it and was more of a come as you are guy. He was gay and yet he was still a badarse.

It’s official, drug overdose

Williams, known for playing Omar Little on “The Wire” and an Emmy Award nominee this year, had fentanyl, parafluorofentanyl, heroin and cocaine in his system when he died Sept. 6 in Brooklyn………

With all that in his system, I'm not so sure I was an accident. But either way, this still sucks. He'll be missed.

Coke and heroin isn’t uncommon (speedballing is what they called it last i knew) . My understanding is that they are using fentanyl to cut both though so he likely had no clue what he was getting or how much. Very sad.

My understanding is that they are using fentanyl
I know the war on drugs has been a total failure, but we HAVE to do something to get this stuff off the streets. Im all for drug reform and reduction of penalties etc etc etc and see the problems, but they need to make being caught with (pure) fentanyl penalties so severe nobody will use it to cut drugs with it anymore. Dont punish the users who have drugs cut with it, but if you get caught with it pure and are using it to cut drugs throw away the key. People who are cutting anything with fentanyl are killing people for profit, its not even up to debate anymore there are SOOOOOO many overdoses becasue of it now.

All true. Through recovery I became acquainted with many many casualties to it. I stopped counting at 15 and a handful I had become very close to. Great people when sober. All walks of life - one good friend was from a well to do family and got addicted to pills he was buying on the street until one day his dealer said it wasn’t pills he had that day. As far as I could tell he was trying to get clean but guys always think they will be able to go back and “dable” when in fact it’s those dables after long layoffs that are most dangerous

Legalize/decrimilize (depending on substance and "harm" potential), educate on usage, effects, harm reduction. Regulate usage (who, where, when, etc), regulate content... so you know, no concerns about purity. Tax and use revenue to provide behavioural health and addiction treatment.

... profit. End the flipping war on drugs which is in of itself responsible for most of the damage that drugs have supposedly caused society.

Im also OK with this for most of the street drugs. But not fentanyl. Its too dangerous.

A piece of fentanyl the size of a grain of sand is enough to kill 3 people with no built up opiod tolerance, I dont see a way to let something this strong out into society.

Also not gonna go all crazy conspiracy, but I wont be shocked the day someone throws a cap of fentanyl in a punchbowl somewhere and kills an entire senior prom.

Yeah, if there's one I want to go away, it's fentanyl. I've never touched the stuff, but I've seen some people just get so forked up by that crap. I'm generally for legalizing and taxing with the exception of the worst of the bunch.
