Wow, so real life imitates TV, and vice versa.NEW YORK (AP) — Four men face charges that they were members of the drug distribution crew that supplied a deadly mix of narcotics to Michael K. Williams, the renowned actor from “The Wire” who overdosed just hours after buying fentanyl-laced heroin in a deal recorded on security camera video.
The man seen on camera handing Williams the drugs on a Brooklyn sidewalk, Irvin Cartagena, was charged with directly causing the actor’s death, authorities said.
Williams’ death was investigated by the New York City police department, but the charges were brought by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, who revealed that the suspects had been under surveillance even before the actor’s fatal overdose last September.
It was a sting that bore a striking resemblance to the kind depicted on “The Wire,” where Williams gained fame playing the bandit Omar Little.
For months, a paid informant working for the NYPD had been making controlled buys of heroin on the same block where Williams purchased his drugs. An undercover police officer made one buy just days before the actor copped his fatal dose, court papers said……..

Huh? He died of an accidental overdose. How so? Omar didn't do drugs.
not in the showHuh? He died of an accidental overdose.
Why are you out to nitpick and attempt to counter so many posts? The guys played a drug dealer on a show and in real life died of an overdose. That's it. That was the point of the post that you obviously missed. At least accept that and let it die.not in the show
His Wire character wasn’t taking and doing drugs, but according to producers, fellow co-stars on the Wire, and even Michael K. Williams himself, he developed a pretty nasty drug habit while he was starring on the Wire and had struggled with substance abuse long before his appearance on the show. How so? Omar didn't do drugs.
Netflix has a good series about this. I can't remember the exact name. It simply might be "drugs"So....maybe I'm slow, buuuuiuut why are dealers lacing heroine w/ fentanyl?
Seems like a bad business model to kill your clientele
well.. technically, he robbed dealers, but yeah. Why are out to nitpick and attempt to counter so many posts? The guys played a drug dealer on a show and in real life died of an overdose. That's it. That was the point of the post that you obviously missed. At least accept that and let it die.
