It seems like Mike Tanier of Football Outsiders has got the hots for Mickey or something, as he just can't write an article without having a dig at him.

This is meant to be about the Giants, but at the end there's a pretty pathetic skit about our cap management and the trade with the Eagles.

Loomis’s strategy was to attempt to keep Brees window alive. Well…in hindsight it didn’t work because we have one Super Bowl appearance and it was before the strategy started…and Brees is now gone. Now the Saints have a substantial amount of cap tied to dead money and have already failed to be competitive in acquiring multiple free agents…and that could continue for the next two years. When you don’t get results people will criticize.

Cool. "It is better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all. " - some smart person

They won more games over the past five years than any other team in the league but the Chiefs. It couldn't have been THAT bad of a strategy.

Nationally, the reaction to Tuesday's trade has been heavily tilted towards Philadelphia,.
To some extent, the outsiders don't appreciate the level of talent on the team and overestimate Tampa's chances in 2022. Bit they do correctly, in my view, recognize that we are not legitimate Super Bowl contenders and that our future quarterback is not on this roster.

If you disagree with the former, you should run to the closest casino with a sports book and bet the over on the Saints' 2022 win-loss total.

If you believe the latter, I do not understand how we could give up high draft picks in 2023 and 2024.

And I doubt that Payton is going to return to coaching in 2023 if the team he wants to go to has to give up much in draft picks when he can wait until 2024 and no compensation to the Saints will be owed.

Incorrect.
Payton remains under the Saints contract through the 2024 season. He must wait until the 2025 season to be free.

That's not true at all. We have been competitive. We just haven't won.

There's a difference and, frankly, losing out on Deshawn Watson was a godsend.

Mike just mad because Loomis is a socs and not a greaser.
