Mindhunter on Netflix (1 Viewer)

Did anyone else catch on to the clips of the btk killer. He will be in the show soon I predict.

Is this based on the mid 1980's movie "Manhunter" that introduced us to Hannibal Lector? It's one of my favorite criminal mind movies with great 80's music.

no, if anything it's the opposite - this is about the start of the FBI investigating serial killers (based on the real life people who started it)

Technically, Manhunter and the rest of the Hannibal movies were inspired by Mind Hunter the book.

Yeah, I caught that it was him when I saw he worked for the alarm company and he got impatient and left when the lady didn't come home as usual. But I wonder how that's gonna play out within the series knowing how and when BTK was caught.

Not to take anything away from the book or the series, but that's not true. Red Dragon was written 15 years before Mind Hunter, and Silence of the Lambs 7 years before it. Also, both the original film version of Red Dragon (Manhunter - 1986) and Silence of the Lambs (1991) were made before the Mind HUnter was published in 1995.

Sorry, I had it somewhat wrong.

They were not based on the book, per say, but the characters Will Graham and more specifically Jack Crawford were based on John Douglas who wrote the book.

From Wikipedia:
Jack Crawford, a major character in the Thomas Harris novels Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs, was directly based on Douglas.[3] Crawford was played by Dennis Farina in the film Manhunter, by Scott Glenn in the film The Silence of the Lambs, by Harvey Keitel in the 2002 Red Dragon, and by Laurence Fishburne in the 2013 NBC series Hannibal.

According to Bryan Fuller, creator of Hannibal, the series' version of Will Graham is based in part on Douglas, namely in the character suffering a severe case of autoimmune encephalitis throughout the first season.

Is the guy that works for the ADT alarm company the principal that was let go for tickling kids? I know this is a slow build for a new serial killer in the show, but was just thinking if this was the principal.

No the guy from the alarm company is from Kansas and they are gradually showing us the evolution of a Serial Killer.

I don't want to spoil it for you, but if you really want to know I'll give you the actual name of the killer which is less known.

Just saw episode one.... kinda not into it.... does it get better or are all of the episodes like episode 1?

Same here! I was debating watching episode 2.

I probably will do so due to the positive feedback posted within this thread.

Give yourself a few episodes to get invested in the characters and you will be hooked.

I saw there were a few comments on the netflix thread, but I wanted to bring the Mindhunter discussion back here

S2 was as great as S1, and love where the character development is going. I'm interested to see where it leads with Tench's son. His creeping on the little girl at the park with dead silence and awkward stares is either setting him up to be a deviant, or could just be how some people are viewed as outcast because of their weird disposition.

We've already seen how his mother reacts, feeling the isolation and judgement from their community, and now taking off. And Tench himself is trained to recognize and profile these behaviors. How they perceive and treat their son is going to effect how he deals with his trauma, having witnessed the death of the small boy, and how he reacts to everyone else treating him differently.

and Anna Torv is one of the sexiest things on tv right now
