I agree. Or at least, I am open to the idea that Brady could be great. Or terrible. Same with Glenn or Ben Johnson or any of these guys. So I am not really sweating the fact that we are going to have last pick of the coaching candidates - it's all a crapshoot. It might work out in our favor to be the least attractive job. We'll see.

Good stuff, was considering Provo, Ogden, cedar city and SLC, any thoughts or suggestions?

I live in Moab, which is much different than some other parts of the state, but I travel all over the place for football and wrestling most weeks/weekends throughout the year. Here's how I would rank the cities you mentioned:

1) Cedar City - I think the Cedar City/St. George area is the best part of the state. It's stunning, clean, lots of amenities, but doesn't feel like a "big city". Short two-hour trip to Vegas if you want to get away and experience something different. SLC is only three hours via I-15.
2) Provo - its a beautiful college town that feels like southside SLC. Good restaurants, retail, coffee, ect. A little more dense than Cedar City, but still feels like a town more than a big city.
3) SLC - it's amazing how SLC has exploded over the last decade. Lots of big-time sporting events, conventions, ect. New NHL team. Great schools - Corner Canyon in Draper is incredible. Lots of money, expensive houses. Starting to suffer a little bit from "big city" symptoms such as traffic and smog issues, the latter of which is heartbreaking when you can't see the mountains on certain days.
4) Ogden - seems like a nice enough bedroom community, but it feels a little cut off from the rest of the state. You have to drive through SLC traffic to get anywhere else, and it's pretty much farmland any further north in Utah and Idaho.

This is where Im at with the HC job. McCarthy is a known commodity, Im not fully opposed to him, but Id rather catch a guy who hasnt made his name yet, with ideas and a fresh approach. Like Brady.

Sure the risk is there. But no one knew how Sean Payton would wind up. He had issues with Knute Rockne Fassel in NY, even got demoted. We took a chance on Payton and that worked out.

Id just rather take that risk and have a guy with the energy to go 8, 10 years and build a new era. Give Brady time to get the roster straightened out and see what happens.

The most attractive thing about the Jets for Glenn would be their defense. It is already built and he would only have to focus on dealing with Aaron "Head Coach Destroyer" Rodgers and rebuilding the offense.

Yes, the Jets are in better shape from a roster and salary cap perspective. No, the Jets do not have a better FO than the Saints do. They don't even have a GM in place. Finally, I wouldn't live in or near New York for free. The mere thought makes me nauseous.

That said, the Jets are the one organization that Glenn has deeper ties to than the Saints. I can absolutely believe this story is true, and mentioned it in the McCarthy thread. If you get in front of McCarthy and he's still got the juice to endure a soft rebuild, you don't let him leave the building without a signed contract. Glenn is far from a sure thing to choose the Saints. The rest of the candidates we're involved with are more likely to bust than to succeed. McCarthy is the guy we need at this juncture.

I think you are spot on for most of this. While at this moment we could say we have a better front office than the Jets, it's kind of like saying we're both terminal but we have a little longer to live (than the Jets). Neither are good situations.

I think we (fans) spend too much time on location. Having two (or more) homes is nothing to these folks. You can hate where your primary residence is, but travel often to other homes and places (during the off season).

I was listening to the NFL channel on Sirius and they were discussing AG's connection to the Jets. They seemed to believe thats were he will end up.

As for McCarthy, they were saying that Mike knew he would be out of Dalas 6-8 weeks ago. Said he was enjoying coaching and supporting his players. He was content with the eventual outcome. They also said that while McCarthy could not talk with other teams, certain conversations could be had that skirt around the rule. McCarthy's people could say "if Mike were available, is he the kind of guy that would interest you". Then a team could say "yeah, a coach like Mike would be great". They insinuated that those types of conversations happend with a couple of teams.

In their ENTIRE history, the Jets have only had two winning HCs.
Parcells who only spent three seasons and Al Groh who only spent a single season there.
