Most Memorable/Emotional Jim Henderson Call of 2009 (1 Viewer)

this is clearly the answer. you could feel that "monkey off the back, FINALLY WE DID IT" emotion just pouring out. The feeling that this is what we bleieved in for 43 years. This is why we kept buying tickets and supporting this team through so many lean years. This is why we love football. It was all encapsulated into this one call. This one kick. This represented the death of the Aints. It was our dreams coming true. And Henderson channeled every ounce of that emotion. Its the greatest call in Saints history. I dont think the super bowl ones were as great because by that point, we knew we were in the big game. WE knew we had a chance to win. but actually nailing THE kick in OT in the NFCCG to reach the big game just could not be topped. It was as if we had been outside the house of the elite in the freezing cold, looking in at the great teams of the past, starving to get into that warm house. To experience what it felt like to win. To be respected. And we finally got through that door.

You took the words right out of my mouth dude...I got chills just reading this post. If only to add one thing is..right after Jim said "It's goooo-oood"..he faintly laughs this kinda insane/sigh/chuckle laugh...and that to me says it all. That little laugh represents..to him..all the miserable games he had to call in order to get to this point..like it was all worth it and the misery is finally over..it's just relief to him and I totally relate to it..my favorite by far...nothing will top it.

This!

This is the one that gets me the most. I think it hits me hardest when Jim's voice raises to another level of excitement at the instant he sees Porter getting past Manning and he knows he won't be caught!

I listen to it every time I need a few tears. :shy:

Here's the NFL.com video. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d816481db/Saints-31-Colts-17
Go to the 5:10 mark to hear Jim's finest moment!

:9:

I concur. This is the ring tone on my cell phone. It drives my wife crazy, because I won't pick it up right away. I want to listen through it every time. I sometimes miss calls because I refuse to interrupt it.

Just got goosebumps reading this. Awesome.

bring up a more overreaching point that SPorts are really one of mankinds greatest inventions. There arent too many things in this world that can simultaneously cause an overflow of emotion like a great Sports event. Its one of those things where, if its your team and you are there, there is really no other feeling that comes close to it. You feel like the world could blow up at that moment and it just wouldnt matter, because you just witnessed something amazing that you will never ever forget.

how about...''pierre thomas, down to the 5...makes a move!'' with hokie in the back 'yes sirrrrrr' i liked that one.

the "its good" call was most memorable. the cathartic emotional release was just so genuine and audible in his voice.

Never gets old...

I got a good laugh from the call that Marques Colston was harder to overthrow than the Ayatollah.

i know you said 2009 and i thought the tracy porter superbowl call was the best but "hakim drops the ball" is still my favorite of all time

All time I think you are correct. In the context of the moment, we had never won a post season game and the Rams were about to put yet another stake in our heart, I think that may be it.... Now fast forwarding to 2009 and what we accomplished it may pale in comparison, but until last year i would replay Hakeem Dropped the Ball at least a dozen times a year..... and still well up in tears when I did...lol

"ITS GOOD!!! ITS GOOD!!! ITS GOO-OO-OOD!! PIGS HAVE FLOWN!! HELL HAS FROZEN OVER! THE SAINTS ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!"

I dont think i`ve ever heard that much excitement in
Jim Henderson or any other saints fans voice ever.

This was awesome, I still get chills hearing it. The third "its gooooood' is priceless!
