I want to start taking a multivitamin or vitamins. I’ve never taken them before but now that I’m 46 the old joints are beginning to take a beating while lifting. What are you guys taking and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated?

I would highly recommend speaking to your doctor about getting some blood work done. I did and multivitamins would have been a waste for me. I take a D3 supplement (not enough sunshine I guess) and Methyl-Guard Plus for a folate deficiency along with 200mg of CoQ10 since my blood pressure stays on the high side or normal. Everything looks normal now.
 
I've taken since I can remember, simple men's formula, nothing major.

I don't do any of those "designer" stuff... Coq10 or nugenix type.

If your lifting causing joint pain, consider lower weight, more reps.

to MLU's point maybe your doctor to point you to a nutritionist
it's best if you can get your vitamin/minerals in your food
 
Yes, you should do your best to find out what vitamins you are not getting through your diet, and replenish those. And always drink more water than anything else.
 
Speak to your doctor. For most people, vitamin supplements just make for expensive pee.
 
Given my alcohol consumption, I feel that for me taking a B-complex and a multivitamin is probably justified. I also take D3 since I live up north and do not get outside much.

Good for you. Alcohol does deplete the body's storage of B vitamins rapidly. If one does partake, it's a wise move to take a B-complex
vitamin daily.
 
two things i take daily which show reults

1) fish oil---my knees no longer pop or creak and i'm told i'm quite kissable.

2) manganese---my night time charlie horses have disappeared.
 
I take vitamin D as blood work showed I was low. I also have an issue with the wiring in my heart and need to take a magnesium supplement or I get weird contraction issues in my heart when it gets low. So, that’s my big taking of multivitamins for you.
 
Yea, as everyone is saying, start by talking to your doc. My knees were a real problem for years until I actually talked to the doc. He had me get an MRI and speak to a knee specialist. Come to fine I have a slightly torn meniscus. Doc said that I just needed physical therapy to strengthen my thighs, quads, and glutes. He was spot on. A couple months of PT and I stopped wearing a knee brace for the first time in a decade. Here I am a year later, I can run a 5K if I want (I don’t want). I’m also down 40lbs which is another big improvement for the knees..
 
I take a men's multi which probably ends up getting flushed down the toilet but eh, and ZMA (Zinc, Magnesium, B6). I've noticed good results in strength gains and recovery with the ZMA. Could be placebo, who knows, but it's worked for me. And I'm not going to complain about having some extra Zinc in my system with the China Herp going around. It's also cheaper to supplement Zinc this way right now than by buying Zinc 🤫
