N/S Brandin Cooks traded to Rams (1 Viewer)

The Rams have been going hard after a WR for a while. The Patriots weren't actively looking to trade Cooks from what I gather.

The Rams approached the Giants and approached the Patriots. A 1st and a 6th was just too good to pass up. Had he not been traded, the Patriots may well of paid him.

The fact that he got that kind of compensation again shows he's still seen as valuable.

I don't see why they didn't just keep Watkins though they're two totally different players.

He is slightly better than watkins this doesnt really scare me

Come on man.

Devery Henderson had a career high of 800 yards and averaged more like 400 yards a year over his career. He never had the intermediate catch numbers that Cooks had either. Cooks has had 3 straight 1000 yard seasons.

He's not Devery Henderson.

You know what I mean. He's a burner and that's it. We drafted him to be a lot more than that. And hell, at least Devery was one hell of a run blocker who had some highlight decleaters in his time here.

The Rams look absolutely stacked...on paper, but will that translate onto the field? I honesty don’t know, I think there’s a good chance all of these big personnel changes blow up in their face. 2011 Eagles anyone?

Because Watkins has had injury issues and he's been nowhere near the player Cooks has been I'd guess.

We all still look at Watkins through his draft stock. In reality he's had 430 and 593 yards receiving the last two seasons.

Rams are not playing around....but like others have said, let's see how it translates on the field. The pundits will definitely choose them to come out the NFC in the preseason.

As for Cooks, his third team before making 25 yrs old. Can't remember the last stud receiver I've seen that happen to. Something definitely stinks with this kid.

Devery could also run one hell of an end around if I recall correctly.

The Rams are definitely loading up for a run. I think Cooks and Sammy Watkins are about a wash. Defensively they are going to be tough. Goff does not scare me though. He could be the weak link.

Well...he finally has a QB that can come close to hitting him in stride. No excuses now.

Agreed really. Just seemed like a waste to even pick him up for a half season.

And it seems like he might finally be over those injuries.

Watkins has had about 50% of the production Cooks has had the last two seasons.

The Rams made this move because they clearly think Cooks is going to give them a lot more. I wouldn't bet against it. Call him whatever you like, but the guy produces yards and that's ultimately the point.

Rams trying to win that offseason champs title. If they don't come out and win right off the bat, it could get ugly in that locker room. Who's the player that's gonna step up and be the leader if the season isn't going as planned? Is Goff that guy? A QB in a gimmick offense that basically has his coach holding his hand down the field doesn't strike me as a rally the troops kind of guy. Who else could it be? Suh? Cooks? Talib or Peters? Yeah, good luck with that.

A full year of tape on Goff and that offense will yield much different results this year.
