N/S Brandin Cooks traded to Rams (1 Viewer)

Look I love Ryan Ram, he's a stud and if teams knew what we did (or how he played) then he's a top 5 pick. Still Pats got a year out of Cooks (1k yards, 7 TD) AND moved up solidly in 1st, plus nab a 4 for 6. Not sure why we could not have gotten more at time.

There are a fair amount of Saints fans (including myself) that saw his YouTube highlights and thought he was going to break ankles in the NFL. It just never happened and it left a sour taste in our mental mouths but if he’s breaking he 1000 yards mark and topping out over 7 td’s a year, it doesn’t really matter how he’s getting there. The dude is dangerous but stick latt on em like glue and it’s all good.

Let's be real. That team had an old Michael Vick and Vince Young at QB.

They were never really a dream team. The moves the Rams made should definitely pay off this year. It's in a year or two that it may harm them because of salary issues.

I saw some "insider report" today about Suh and how he's only interested in the money and really wants nothing to do with being a part of the team. Doesn't help young guys in the film room etc. Idk that he and Donald will coexist as well as everyone is thinking they will - especially in a 3-4.

They have picked up a whole lot of egos this off-season. That's hard to keep in check in a locker room.

If they don't play in the SB this season they might as well send for the moving vans. They barely averaged 25k in attendance! Winning record and playoff birth are not enough for that fickle fan base. I give them 10 yrs and they will be the Albuquerque Rams...

The Rams are going all in on this year with cap implosion coming next year. Cooks is still on his rookie deal and will want to get paid. Same with Peters, Donald, Gurley, and soon Goff. Suh is only on a one year deal. The conspiracy theorist in me is thinking the NFL wants the LA market revived and a Superbowl / playoff run to get the ratings and fan base charged. Also they resigned Tavon Austin at a cheaper number, Cooks is a better version of the small quick deep threat that Austin was supposed to be. The Rams 2018 cap is a mirage, brilliant for their GM, but giving up a first rounder that would help later cap problems especially after they already did the same thing on a one year rental of Watkins for a second rounder and now have nothing to show for it does not lead to long term sustainability. Your depth will suffer without draft picks. Ask the Bounty Gate Saints.

I think your wrong. They traded off some higher paid players and replaced them with cheaper options that are just as good or better. Peters is making a lot less than the 16 a year T Johnson was making and is still under contract for two more years. They traded Ogletree and Quinn's large long term salary for a one year rental of Suh. They still have 3 years of Goff on a rookie contract which is peanuts for an NFL team. RB's are a very devalued position outside of L Bell, not one other rb in the NFL is over 10 a year. They will have to pay Donald some cheddar but they still good for a quite few years after that.....

I'm a firm believer (after years of seeing the Saints learn the hard way) that it's not just about getting the biggest, best skill position players. The Rams will be good. I think we'd be naive to think otherwise, but that doesn't mean they are headed to the SB.

The Vikings, on paper, were simply much more talented than us last year (especially because of how many people we had on IR). Yet, it took the flukiest play in a decade to keep us from the NFCCG.

In the end, it's still about coaching, a great QB, good depth, and a good game plan more than whether you have Peters, Cooks, or Suh.

Can’t wait until we play them Rams... and stomp a mud hole in them...

Who ******* Dat!

We quietly stepped up our 17th ranked D and will be fine on offense like we always are. Not to mention, the draft ain't even happened yet and let's not pretend like Ireland hasn't been literally killing it there.

I don't think I've ever agreed with you more than I do right now.

Agreed. Saints looked stacked in 2014 but we had a cast that refused to show up for practice, or showed up late or hungover. Early on everybody was saying we were going to the SB but we ended up going 7-9 and the wheels fell off for 2 more years afterwards.
