Anyone else think the "sucker-punch" part is just covering for Geno?

Now there is a big debate over what constitutes a sucker punch, some saying if a guy is looking at you while you are jawing at each other its not a sucker punch.

Not that it means anything, but to me a sucker punch doesn't have to be from behind a guy or from the side where he cant see. For me the term more describes a punch where the other person is not expecting a punch to be thrown and was not given a reasonable chance to defend against the punch. The honorable or "manly" way to fight, if one is determined to get in a dumb fist fight, is to raise your hands first as if to say "put your dukes up and defend yourself because I am gonna kick your butt". Then again, some of my brawling friends growing up would tell you rules for fights are for dummies and that the best time to hit a man is when he is down. :box:

Sucker punch or not, it looks really bad for Geno. You don't see many other starting qbs getting punched because they have to much respect from their team mates, even their team mates that don't like them wouldn't hit them.

It must be awful to be a Jets fan. You would have to have been trying to talk yourself into thinking your team would do better this year with a new coach and that maybe Smith could get better, but a week into camp your qb gets knocked out for most of the year in the most embarrassing way possible. :covri:

Curious - Did anybody else hear the spot from Dan Le Batard where he referenced the locker room incident with Brees and Olin Kreutz a few year back? Apparently Kreutz was an active Volcano and Brees touched him on the shoulder in the locker room to talk to him and Kreutz wheeeld around to take a swing at him, saw it was Brees, and managed to restrain himself at the last second.

I didn't but I'd like to hear more about this incident. On what show did this take place?

Kreutz did break his teammate's jaw before with the Bears. I hadn't heard about an incident with Brees but maybe this had something to do with his leaving mid season.
