N/S Payton critiques old Broncos staff, says Jets are setting themselves up for a hard fall, etc. (2 Viewers)

This morning on the way to work I was listening to 2 Pros and A Cup of Joe. They were really giving SP the business. SP really stepped into it this time. He just learned the hard way that he's not in NOLA anymore. He's used to being able to run off at the mouth without anyone noticing or caring (except for the NFL and Roger). But now he's coaching in Denver and he made comments about a team in New York! You want some attention? Just throw something New York related under the bus. You'll get plenty.

Anyway LaVar Arrington was talking about why SP would ever say these things in the first place and he had some good points. Basically now SP has announced to the world that he took over a dumpster fire. If he turns things around and the Broncos make some noise then SP looks like a hero who achieved the impossible. If they continue to stink up the joint then SP has laid the groundwork for his excuse for being terrible. It wasn't his fault because the people in charge before him were so egregiously bad that it's going to take years to right the ship. Either way he's covered. Except that it promptly blew up in his face because he named names and buried people in public.

Of course he's apologizing and trying to walk it back but the damage is done. Despite the heat that he's taking in the short term he was still able to get his message out.

It's so fitting that Aaron Rodgers, one of the biggest douches in sports, used the old "keep *whoever/whatever* out of your mouth", which is one of the douchiest sayings anyone can use.
Aaron is awesome on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesdays during the season. I didn't like him until I started watching him on it. Very cool person that you wouldn't usually see if you only keep up with him otherwise.

His biggest misstep was apologizing. Follow up audacity with more audacity, reversing foot goes against the 48 laws of power. I forget the law, but I comprehend what a transgression looks like...and it's this.

Yeah. He’s super enlightened from taking some ayahuasca, listening to Joe Rogan, and watching user-made YouTube documentaries about alternative historical concepts… possibly at the same time!

I would like to point out the irony of a NY team (where it’s always preach toughness) crying about a comment.
The real irony is that they'll cry (and the NFL) all the way to the bank...the NFL low key loves this stuff because it will allow the sports media to hype the Jets/Broncos game even more.

Why aren't coaches allowed to be critical of other coaches? He wasn't even disrespectful. I understand "the code", but if someone is crap, call em crap. What's the worst thing that could happen, he gets motivated to prove you wrong and actually becomes a decent coach?

I think Payton will do well. His last season here was one of the best coaching jobs I've ever seen.

I'm not going turn into a Broncos fan though.
