N/S Payton critiques old Broncos staff, says Jets are setting themselves up for a hard fall, etc. (3 Viewers)

I haven't put much thought into Payton since he ISN"T on the team anymore. More concern with what we got here. But what he said is exactly what most of their fan base and media was thinking. I don't think he should say it like that to the media. It is further distractions that his team does not need. It is unprofessional and sort of immature. You expect that from players but from coach to another coach... he pretty much violate the "coaches code". Payton always preach about social media etiquette and keeping things private within the organizations but he broke his own rules.

Some people here are still upset about him leaving here and "ditching us". I really don't feel it that way. 15 years with the same organization is un heard of and super rare. If you work for a company for so many years, there are urges to want to explore other opportunities. I always have that feeling that he wanted to leave a long time ago. For him to stay this long is a bit of a surprise. But I knew his time here was coming to an end. I am grateful for what he did. Big shoes to fill, of course. But it was time.

I hope the Broncos and their fans are ready to be ripped off by the officials week in and week out.

I think Mora is getting lost because he’s getting overshadowed by Payton and his accomplishments. Rightfully so, Payton is now the Saints standard for a coach now.
But Mora was the person that originally changed the culture of the franchise into a competitive one.

Oh, I agree, he deserves credit for bringing us winning seasons and at that point in Saints history he was admired for doing so, but he was never going to take us further.....

Yep and would be his only SB if he doesn't learn to play nice in the sandbox

Total BS, CSP is who he is, he says inappropriate or controversial stuff sometimes and he isn't scared of apologizing or admitting he was wrong to do so at times....I like that about him....

Payton has created a nice little distraction for he and his new team/franchise to have to deal with now.

I'm sure he had a purpose in doing it but I doubt he intended this.

When Payton was here, we all knew that he was good for a few arrogant and cocky soundbytes, esp. after bountygate.

But part of me thinks even for SP, these comments were a bridge too far. Yes, SP is calculating, but I doubt all this attention (mostly negative) wasn't what he was shooting for. Coaching is a pretty tight NFL fraternity, despite the stiff competition for acquiring both HC positions and a spot on a staff. Openly burying one of your own after taking a job after a franchise cleaned house is dirty pool, imo. Yes, what he said was probably true, but what good does airing all that dirty laundry do?

I don't remember at all in recent history a HC go on and on about how crappy a job the previous regime did. Further, Hackett was a first year HC who flopped in his first year. He may or may not get another opportunity to coach again, but there have been more than one HCs who start slow and grow into the job and have a lot of success. And he's got a pretty decent resume; it wasn't similar to the Colts hiring Jeff Saturday out of the booth with very little or no experience. The rant just seemed, well unnecessary.

The point is there's a fine line between confidence and cockiness and hubris bordering on obnoxious when it comes to what HC says, and lately it's been the latter more than the former with SP.

But he did apologize…..

I’m glad we are not connected to this juvenile garbage anymore. CSP is a mixed bag. With the creativity and genius you get this constant melodrama.
