N/S Payton critiques old Broncos staff, says Jets are setting themselves up for a hard fall, etc. (3 Viewers)

Isn’t it like an unwritten rule to never ever publicly critique fellow coaches ?
I don’t think that was a good move on Payton’s part at all.

Well the guy knows what it's like to take over a dysfunctional organization. I just don't recall him calling out anyone on the '05 Saints staff like this.
He was critical about the franchise pre 2005.
Particularly about its reputation.

Very odd for a coach to say these types things publicly. Not that any of it is untrue, but you usually don't cross over calling out other coaches and organizations. If I had to guess, things aren't quite right in the QB room and this is an attempt to shield or protect Russell Wilson from blame (in 2022). This may be a sign that Denver is in trouble. Just a hunch.

So different than DA, "just keep doing what you're doing." He's going to win in Denver.
If you want to be fair, DA didn't mean "keep screwing up" I'm pretty sure he meant "Don't panic, just be confident we can execute like in practice."

I'm also pretty sure that DA has replaced some people he had no confidence in their ability to execute the plays.

If you lived in the Denver market you'd understand he's just stating the obvious. Hackett was terrible in about every conceivable way.

Payton really buried Hackett. I’m not sure I can remember him being so highly critical of another coach. I mean alluding to it yeah but he was very blunt here.
The criticism was clearly warranted. I said it before you don’t go from a top 5 QB for years to looking like a bottom tier QB overnight unless you have a lot of help from the staff around you.

This was about absolving Wilson blame from last season.

Sean is playing 4-d chess.

He is also branding the team moving forward as his and his alone.

He just established his "do your job" culture clearly for the organization to see.
Maybe this is all true. It's still a classless move.
