N/S Payton critiques old Broncos staff, says Jets are setting themselves up for a hard fall, etc. (1 Viewer)

Sean Payton's pettiness was endearing when he was our head coach. Now, not so much. He better win this year because he's been running his mouth pretty much nonstop for months.
At least you can admit this. Cuz if Payton does this interview while still in black and gold and attacking the Falcons and Panthers this thread would look A LOT different

If that's true and he would've been back but the Saints wouldn't move on from Allen.. it's just such a mistake to operate from a place where you're making the decision based upon what's fair to Dennis Allen.
I also imagine Loomis was/is tried of Payton being hot and cold with does he want to coach us or not

Wow. I never realized that the butt hurt was so extreme and prevalent.

Back to the OP. I see what Payton is doing for the psyche of his team, but a little surprised that he's taking shots at other coaches and teams publicly. I was shocked that Wilson looked so putrid last year (he killed my fantasy football team) so it will be interesting to see if he really has lost it or not.
Fanaticism bruh lol.

I hope everyone who is so mad at him has committed to at least 15 years of their job and never once got burned out or looked for a new chapter in life.

And I can understand that to some extent.. but if Payton would've committed to another three or four years I just don't see the point in hanging on to Allen who has just not been able to show signs of success over his four years as a head coach.

Not a comparison of people. Please stay on topic. You said gratitude was useless because it was in the past and you don't live in the past. I pointed out that gratitude is only possible when things happen, which places them in the past as soon as they do. Then, I gave another example of the attitude you posited, pointing out how absurd it is. You come back with "don't compare two people" as if that addresses what we were talking about.

You're determined to be angry at Coach Payton, that's fine. I am determined to be grateful.
Not angry. He’s the enemy now. Period

oh i hear ya. i would have took payton back too. and same fans in here that are mad at him would have been at peak training camp "this can be a Super Bowl team" hype right now if Payton was leading the way lol

But that ain't what happened. We know for a fact he was flirting with Miami while still under contract.

And most of us don't get burned out then immediately go and do the same job in the same industry for a direct competitor to our former employer.

The problem with this is that the majority or good portion of Super Bowl coaches have gone to a different franchise at some point.

Not this fan.
Good lord! Some of you fans have lost your minds! 39 that’s 39 years before Coach Payton got here the Saints had a grand total of 1 playoff win. The Saints weren’t even an afterthought to anyone outside of NO we were nobodies. Everyone seems to forget what a laughing stock we were. Coach Payton came here and had a lot of success for many years. Now people act like he owes NO something. He doesn’t. Why not thank him for the success he had while he was here and for putting the Saints on the map. Put the hate away and start getting excited the this years team who is gonna surprise everybody.

There are 2 sides to every relationship! What you say is true, however, every single Saints fan appreciated Payton and what he accomplished here. You seem to be implying that some of us don't. Payton's gone, but the Saints are still here. Payton chose to put the Saints in the past, so for any kerfuffle that comes up, I hope we give the Saints the benefit of the doubt.

The broncos fans I know were thrilled with his statement because they pretty universally couldn't stand hackett. I wonder if part of this was just too endear himself to broncos fans a bit.
