New CBS mock draft has Saints selecting LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in 2025 (1 Viewer)

Some of y’all up in here acting like we’re having this conversation right now in December.. we are barely in mid-October, if Garrett continues to grow and shine this season like he’s already been doing, he absolutely will be ready for the upcoming draft, maybe even in the top ten…. I am with yall who are saying that the Rattlesnake might turn things around and have us drafting higher next year, and we could get some solid Oline help- but i am baffled by the - i wont say ‘hate’ b/c that’s too strong a word- but the uncertainty about Nussmeier when all he’s done this year is improve and ball out each week , all while playing in the biggest big-boy conference there is .. it’s not like he’s playing for the Idaho Vandals like his dad did .

Just from a numbers perspective and not knowing anything at all about the LSU QB, I'd say this is never going to happen. If neither Haener or Rattler is the guy, Carr is going to be starting for the next two seasons and we're going to build the rest of the team before grabbing a first round QB after his contract is done, after clearing a bunch of cap and we're on to a new head coach. There are too many holes in this team to go that route. I wouldn't expect CBA to know too much about the team though, so I'm not surprised that put that in there.

He’s among the best QBs in college football so far in his first year starting. His arm talent is elite. Hes extremely accurate and understands the game and can read defenses. Hard worker and a leader. Hes had a better start than either of our heisman NFL star QBs also. I’d gladly take him and let he and Rattler fight it out for the future QB spot. If he continues as he has so far he wil be a top 15 pick. If he comes back to college next year he may end up being a top 5.

His arm is not elite and being the best starting QBs in college this year doesn't mean he's going to be an NFL QB. There are many years where the best QB in college football doesn't become a good NFL QB. He's a good college QB but he's not ready for the NFL. He needs another year in college. If does that maybe he take the step that Burrow and Daniels made in their final year of college. Taking him at #16 would be a terrible reach.

Jayden started a total of 55 games in his college career. He was polished before last year. All he needed to do was trust his receivers to make a play. Which was easy with the likes of Nabers and BTJ to throw to. This is Nuss’ first year as a starter and he’s hitting on almost 70% of his passes, without receivers like Nabers and BTJ. Nuss is spreading the ball around to like 10 different players.

He'd have even better numbers if Lacy didn't drop the ball so much.

I can tell who actually has watched him play and who hasn't.

Also, dude commenting on Nuss with his super bad take on JD5 gets an instant scroll, lol.

Why the heck would we take a QB when we have bigger holes to fill?!

No offense, but i dont see how you can make that statement today.. it is 100% dependent on where we are 6 months from now when the Draft occurs.. if Rattlesnake shows signs of not panning out , and Nuss continues to excel and possibly takes the Tigers deep into the 12 team playoff- then im sorry, but if we find ourselves drafting in the top ten, you simply cannot afford to NOT take a high caliber QB in this day and age.. im not saying nothing else matters- but if you dont have a quality QB, then nothing else matters pretty much .

Yeah, I get that. But honestly, we could put a top tier day 1 draft pick QB in back of our shaky o-line and he'd struggle. We have to have a better foundation before we draft a QB- at least this next draft.

If we have a reliable o-line, with capable depth, then perhaps a QB would be a good pick assuming nothing we have now pans out.

I disagree although I would love him to have another year in college. He can make every throw and some and is playing at an elite level so far. All you can go buy is a players tools and what he puts on tape just like Burrow and Daniels and anybody else. Well aware that it don’t guarantee success but he’s certainly worthy and has the tools and production so far for first round consideration. I bet people would jump up and immediately say Jalen Milroe and Jaxson Dart are 1st round QBs. While both have great athleticism Nuss is a better thrower and QB.

I want to hate Milroe, but his athleticism would be gladly welcomed by me, and I’m a Bama hater. He has greatly improved and he is a dang weapon. I’d take him as well

The QBs this year(except maybe cam ward) aren’t worth drafting high to me.

Not that impressed by any of them.

His athleticism alone makes him a take. He has a strong arm and a great deep ball. Don’t think he reads defense that well and has work to do on short and intermediate throws although is improving. Elite elite athlete though. Can’t even be mad and I can’t stand Bama either. lol

Seen Milroe make a run last year, that was so dang intense, that it was even more magnified on instant replay. Dude barreled right through defenders, got corralled by 3-4 guys, and dug his cleats into the field, and drove through them. Just absolutely bullied the defense like they were children. That dude plays with reckless abandon and I love that in a player, especially a QB that will do anything to help his team win a game.
