NFL and NFLPA begin talks on 18-game season (1 Viewer)

This news should not surprise anyone, an 18 game season was always Goodell’s plan way back in 2019.
It’s part of his international expansion plans.
It actually goes back to Tagliabu days. The CBA that ended in 2012 had a clause that would allow the owners to impose a 17 or 18 game season. That was removed in the 2012 CBA.

It’s wild that this league back in the 60s and 70s used to once be 14 regular season games, and a whopping 6 preseason games which honestly seems absurdly excessive in hindsight.

Then it went to 16 and 4. Now 17 and 3. And soon 18 and 2.

Wonder if the final step is 20 and 0, and everyone just has a training camp scrimmage/practice drills with another team or two before the season.

18! Insane. Man, good thing Goodell cares deeply about player health and isn't a soulless, duplicitous piece of garbage; imagine how many games he'd be advocating for in that case. Whew!
