While we don't have a GREAT roster , we have a pretty good roster. 90% of our problems are COACHING at almost EVERY position. If we hire a new offensive HC along with a new staff if that can't coach up this roster , he's the WRONG guy. DA and this staff has no fire , no discipline no motivation and no accountability and most of all no clue. DA wants a team built on the 70's Steelers and it's not the 70's
This team just as it stands now with ANY good HC and staff is an 11 win team
I agree. We have a better roster than most teams that change coaches. It's the reason it is so frustrating that it's unlikely to change. The players are practically begging for something to change and it's not. We also have some players that we should have let walk a while ago, not because we don't love them, but because they are in decline. Good teams sustain being good by making those choices. Fans get over it because their team is good. Nobody overlooks it when the team is bad.

DA is who he has always been. A kind of weird dude that can scheme a defense, but isn't anyone you want to be the face of your organization. He's just a bad head coach and probably one of the best secondary coaches to ever coach in the NFL. He's been promoted because of that on a continual basis. But it needs to end.

Feel like Saints fans who go to that Atlanta game are gonna have to make a serious statement if the Saints are finally out of the race by that point. Signs and everything.

I made this argument last year but under the idea that we go through a rebuild this season. There would be nobody better to coach a team going through a rebuild than Dennis Allen because he would lose every game despite trying to win.

Underhill basically said today that them fighting back in blowout games is basically saving DA and that it will take bad, lay down losses in the next two games to seal his fate. Chances are high of a year 3. John Hendrix currently has a 20% chance of DA being fired in his latest article.

  • Head Coach (20%) - Unless Dennis Allen loses the final two games and they're downright ugly, there doesn't seem much there to suggest that the Saints will move on from him. Not making the postseason with this roster is certainly not the expectation and should prompt those conversations, but I just don't get the feeling that New Orleans will pull the trigger here. I've honestly never got the sense that they're ready to move on. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also hinted this on Friday.
If it’s the 2 last game riding on the team deciding to keep or get rid of him, they have already decided to keep him and only an embarrassment can have an affect. The front office gets everything it deserves when it comes to fans voicing there opinions thru empty seats or boos.

Most of us saw the report from Ian, but this is literally the antithesis of a winning organization. I understand not getting blown out may save you from a midseason firing, but that is not the metric for most teams when it comes to evaluating coaches. Wins and losses, playoffs, and division titles are the goals. Coaches with rings may get a pass, but Allen is a career loser. Loomis doesn't want to admit he made a mistake

The last home game, the 40% capacity crowd should voice their displeasure for 4 quarters. The other 60% will voice themselves through empty seats.
When revenue is strongly affected and boos are relentless for 3 hours, it will be noticed..
DA is praying Jacksonville allows him one last gasp to save his fate.
The Bucs and Falcons would both have losing records to finish the season to give him a chance to win them. Because we all know if they were above .500 he'd lose going away.
If we were a college team we'd set the record for the transfer portal because nobody would want to play for this mess. DA ruined my team and Loomis ain't helping.

Vote with your wallet.

Totally agree with the OP. There is no reason to wait. You can even promote someone on the current staff to interim HC. Other teams have done it. It's not impossible.

This team is a total mess. Infighting amongst players, airing out dirty laundry on Twitter, players are clearly frustrated and want a change. Dennis Allen and his "leadership" have run this team into the ground.

What I can't figure out is why they want him to stay? He literally brings zero benefits.

Not sure I understand the arguement some make that we (fans) need to just wait another season and then fire DA.
Why do we? I mean you want fans to put up their HARD EARNED money again to watch anohher (DA's third) of
what we saw Thursday night? That is just absurd. The fans deserve better starting next season. I don't care who
you bring in, it will be an improvement. I've been a Saints fan for 45 years! I survived 1-15 and this is worse because
like last season's team. There is too much talent on this team to be 7-8 when you also take into account our schedule.
Agree. Don’t waste another year unnecessarily. Start righting the ship now.

The argument is three reasons:

1. This would instantly be the worst situation for a new head coach to come into with 90 million in the hole next year, no QB and an aging roster that will be worse next year.

2. QB-Head coach combination is the most important on a team, I don't think you can hire a head coach until you have the QB to fit what they want to do.

3. You would be firing the new head coach in 2-3 years because this is an impossible situation to win in.

All in all Mickey Loomis is going to turn this franchise into a dumpster fire if he doesn't drastically change his ways.

I am one of DA's biggest haters but you have to let him be the punching bag until this front office cleans up the bones of this team.

I’ll give it a go - please understand that I don’t want DA to stay - just working through potential theory

Though the tenor of the board says otherwise, addition by subtraction isn’t really a thing - Pete is the only person involved whose departure would automatically improve the squad
As bad (mediocre) as Carr has been, there’s no guarantee that an upgrade is expected
Getting rid of DA also gets rid of our DC and we don’t know a personnel fit is available

Unless Loomis is prepared to fire the staff right now, it makes no sense to signal that they’ll probably be gone in January
Finish the season, talk in secret to coaches’ agents and then make moves
Signaling a move now would only be to assuage a fanbase who is in no mood to be assuaged
