Not sure I understand the arguement some make that we need to just wait another season and then fire DA. (1 Viewer)

The only argument I can see for it is that as many as 10 teams will be looking for HC this year. We might not be able to get a better one.

We have to stop kidding ourselves, thinking DA won't get a 3rd yr. The Saints are old school, 3 yrs is the #, it will be Loomis/DA/Carr (Pete will leave on his own) in 2024. To be honest, I would be happy with that, If I really thought Loomis was going to put that yr to good use. And clean up the mess, he made the last 2 yrs. I just don't believe Loomis knows what he is doing., and can right the ship.

There was just no excuse to continue this notion, of us needing to abuse the cap beyond, Sean/Drew's leaving. To what end?

Loomis didn't do DA any favors in his first yr as HC. Loomis gaslighted this whole franchise, that DA inherited a play off roster. Then saddled this team w/ 1st rd LT bust, and an O line that has gotten every QB that plays for us hurt multiple times. Other than Ram and McCoy..........who else would start for other teams.

What the Saints FO have effectively done, by not making changes. Is make it impossible properly evaluate, the QB, the play caller, the head coach. We go into 2024, with a huge cap #, a head coach and QB, that fans have little or no confidence in. And still don't fully know what we have in any of them.

The only positive change they made, was benching Penning, and putting Pete at LT. This worked out in the very first game. The whole line played better, with Penning's benching. I know I will get push back on this, but I really believe starting Penning at LT for 7 games. It kind of "Jason David" the first half of the season.

Some times "keep doing what you are doing" means keep losing. If you don't make any changes. That square peg isn't getting any rounder, by "keep doing what you are doing."

For those wanting to fire DA this year, I'm with you, but only if we can find a better coach. And, that coach has to be willing to move to NO. And we have to find that coach before firing DA.

Nah...we don't have to find him first.

What's going to happen if we don't? We end up with a subpar HC that's incapable of running an organization?

Our worst case under a new is our current and future state w/ DA

DA will not be able to bring in coaches who know it’s likely one and done. Lack of resources will hurt free agency as well as a lame duck coach. DA needs to retire and chop wood somewhere.

I dont think anyone arguing to keep him, I think "SOME" of the argument to fire him is annoying because the same point that is used to harm Dennis Allen if you use the same argument for Dennis Allen then the point is Invalid

1. People say this team is loaded with Talent, but every team has talent what are some the fans comparing too? We dont have as as much talent compared to 49ers, Cowboys, Detroit, Eagles Or rams. AND Our O Line been MID when healthy, literally the most important position in football, and has been full of injuries. It doesnt matter how much "Talent" you have at QB, WR, TE, or RB if your O Line is Mid you going lose half your games. Do some of the posters even look at other teams rosters

2. Easy schedule? based off what their are no gimmie's in football. Every team we lost to is in the Play off hunt. And if we are to use the "We Played Back up QB's" excuse. Then Use that same logic for DA. Every game Carr got hurt dont matter cuz we had a back up QB and the other team should win. If every team should win against back up QB, then we should lose every game with a back up QB. We all know thats not true so. The schedule excuse is invalid to me.

3. Keeping DA for the rest of the season is a loser mentality, but losing the rest of the games to DA fire Saints are still in playoff hunt is a winner mentality. That literally the opposite if a winner's mentality. Winners win despite of. Insulting the Fans that have hope and still want to win is the definition of loser mentality. Point blank period.

I was done with Allen after Atlanta. I personally just dont like the offense playcalling. But I rather the saints be patient and make a good decision the rash decisions. Panthers and browns been looking for a "Good Coach" for years and still looking. I think we need to get a good offensive mind in building

I'm sure this has been repeated over and over again so I apologize, I have no desire to read 7 pages of ranting. Heres my take.

There are only 32 HC jobs in the NFL, which makes it a very attractable and coveted job.

HOWEVER

The state of our franchise, is at one of the lowest points it could be all time.

1) We have pushed back the cap for so many years, because we had a Superbowl Calibur team. All good things come to an end, when Drew Brees retired and Sean Payton jettisoned us for Denver, the process started for us.

2) We are tied to Derek Carr for minimally 2 more years. I know people say we can get out of it early, or even at the two year mark but this just continues to grow the negative cap trend we have had for the past decade. At some point we are just going to have to play players that are cheap and undeveloped to get back to a good situation.

3) Just like any job in the world, when there is mass turnover you should immediately question what is going on? Organizations that consistently changing leadership year after year and consistently dumpster fires. (Oakland / Chicago / Detroit (before Campbell) / Arizona and the list goes on.

4) Firing your top leader midseason when you do not have anyone to man the ship behind him is not a wise move. The best option is during the offseason, when you aren't worried about impacting games / practice / free agents. Everyone mentions this person or that person, but if they really were coveted someone would of poached them from our staff after such a historic run with Sean P.

I for one think Dennis Allen was the wrong hire, he doesn't have the "it" factor to be a leader of men, but I also don't believe his replacement is on staff. We need a young, egar, offensive mind that will change our culture back to fearless. Nobody meets that descripton on the current staff

If he is an OC on another team he'd probably have to be made OC/ Ast HC for it not to be a lateral move. Could be an opportunity for one of the in name only OCs like Frank Smith or Brian Callahan . But I think my #1 candidate for OC should be Musgrave. DC had what may have been his best yr with Musgrave as OC for the Raiders
I don’t care who Carr had success with in the past, I would hire the best available OC for the team. Carr can get on board with the new OC, and the team can flourish, or he can continue being meh, and we can show his arse the door after next season. The choice is his.

Why do we? I mean you want fans to put up their HARD EARNED money again to watch anohher (DA's third) of
what we saw Thursday night? That is just absurd. The fans deserve better starting next season. I don't care who
you bring in, it will be an improvement. I've been a Saints fan for 45 years! I survived 1-15 and this is worse because
like last season's team. There is too much talent on this team to be 7-8 when you also take into account our schedule.
I'm for keeping Dennis Allen one more year

This is perfect for Loomis to clear up as much cap space as possible and take the hit in 2024.

Two scenarios

Dennis Allen would have to play with his hands tied behind his back and go with young cheap players .
If he happens to field good team with the salary cap issue, then fine.
Plus we still have to pay Derek Carr another year.

2nd scenario we power through 2024 with a bad record, but we clear up the salary cap, get rid of DA, and have a high draft pick in 2025

Better to get a new quality coach with a healthy salary cap and a high draft pick

It's going to depend on how much pain the ownership team is willing to tolerate in 2024.

Keeping DA (even if done somewhat cynically with an eye towards a 2025 reboot) will most likely mean a seasons-worth of 2023 Lions-Saints games where the Dome is 60% full and visiting teams fans take over the place.

The ownership team certainly has shown a lot of patience and long-term thinking so they might be fine with taking that risk knowing that 2025 is when they can actually make some moves. We'll see.

They'll probably elevate Curry after the season when they should have auditioned him midseason this season.

3rd scenario: we get a new HC for 2024 season, who proceeds to coach up the nearly exact same roster; but with better game-planning, accountability, and maximizing the talents of those players already on hand. An average to above-average coach would have the current roster winning about 10-11 games (barring unforseen injuries) with the same roster already in place....possibly (likely?) winning a division title along the way. Then proceed with roster re-build in 2025 season, cleaning cap in the process, and already with a handle on what THAT coach is looking for in "his" players.

Every year that DA has his fingerprints on this team, is just delaying the return to winning attitudes by +1 season. I'm okay with the losing that comes with the growing pains. What I'm NOT okay with is the lack of improvement, and the flashing of future improvements. This team has shown NO IMPROVEMENT whatsoever in DAs 32-game tenure. There is NOTHING I can see in the next 2 games that would override my opinion of the previous 32. Quit delaying the inevitable. Bite the bullet, do what needs to be done, and hope for the best. I can deal with that.

I can't deal with "keep chopping wood" and "keep doing what you're doing", when there has been ZERO reason to suggest ANY progress is being made. If I keep doing what I'm already doing, I'll be avoiding Saints games for another season, and checking to see how the game went from my esteemed brothers on Saints Report. I'll do something different when the Saints organization does something different...

Well with Musgrave DC and the Raiders went 12-4 with a bad defense that good enough for you? Smith and Callahan are working under 2 successful HCs in Zach Taylor and Mike McDaniels.
