Saints Now that Jameis is back on a 2 year deal… Malik Willis is the play! (2 Viewers)

or still giving him his full year audition, that was cut short when he was 14TD and only 3 INT with a 4-2 record

That's how I feel. Winston probably gets this year to come in as the starting QB with no competition. This also allows the Saints to not feel any kind of urge to draft a QB in a year with a woefully underwhelming class. They can go out and get top prospective Offensive Tackles, Wide Receivers, and Tight Ends which this draft is rich in and perfect for a team like the Saints to reload. If Winston blows it, then the Saints can draft a QB in 2023 and not be in an immediate rush to throw the rookie into the fire. They'll also have a very complete team already built up for the rookie as well. However if Winston does well, then the Saints won't end up like the Packers or 49ers where they're stuck with a QB on the bench instead of a talented gameday contributor on a rookie contract.

People won't say it, but Trey Lance instead of Ja'Marr Chase was the difference in who won the NFC.

The Jordan Love dilemma also has to be on every NFL team's minds as well.

I think he is in play for the Falcons, not us at our pick. We go lineman or best available player.

Yep...all of that!

No no no. Only QB i'd think about in rd 1 is if Pickett fell to 18 and then I have to still think about it. Might take Sam Howell in the 2nd but I'd still rather wait till next year at least, much better prospects next year

Exactly...what's the harm in waiting until 2023 to draft a QB...at least you know by then for sure if JW is the guy or isn't. And like someone else said, you haven't blown a 1st on a QB that you might not want to move to like GB and SF.

SF has to go with Lance because they traded a 2nd 1st to move up to draft him. They spent the money now they have to use the toy whether its ready or not

Until he running on us in that 7 like Vic used to and cam too slow to chase him down and Davenport 2 first is hurt lol look at our last few first rounders I think we can risk a pick on a high ceiling qb
High ceiling QB’s in this years draft! Really? Saints don’t have the luxury to “risk a pick” when we have vital needs at WR, OL, TE or RB. Get players that can help this struggling offense now. Haven’t we witnessed enough recent first round busts with the likes of Dwayne Haskins, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, etc. Let’s not risk joining that group of bummed out franchises when it’s not necessary.

If our scouting department approves. We got a really excellent QB coach and coordinator in Pete Carmichael. We can get him to reach his ceiling. Saints value upside a lot.

Jameis will improve again this year. Let's move forward at least for the next 2 years as if we are set at the quarterback position.

This way , if Jameis isn't the guy , the guy who replaces him walks into a offense that can protect him and guys who can get open.

The 9ers play the brand of football you don't need an Aaron Rodgers.

Just a defense , dynamic play makers and QB who can maximize his weapons

lol he’s faster then all them for one .was turner not a risk as was Davenport both had injury issues and have them now if the draft is soooo deep at wide receiver we can get one in rd 2 or at 18 and move up for the qb; OL can be found in the draft a lot of people like hurst as well ,I agree with a rb but we can find that late in the draft as well not a lot of teams searching for a rb we already have a top one at that may only be suspended for 6 games meaning he’ll be fresh when he come back ; if anything we need to find who will replace Malcolm when he retires defense is good but aging at 3 key spots DD and Malcolm Cam

What if Jameis wants to leave for a big contract after doing well

That’s part of it as well not just game field film; it’s variables that come into play did his team have good playcalling and coaching did line offer adequate protection did wr run good routes ; does he fit what the vision is for the team …. Mobile qb smart can push the ball down field work ethic
