Saints Now that Jameis is back on a 2 year deal… Malik Willis is the play! (1 Viewer)

Idk. My heart says go get that Lombardi and draft WRs. I also can't ignore that there something special about him does that translate to a special QB idk? Pat White from WVA comes to mind, he was electric and then the pro game showed he wasn't. He really needs 2 season before I turn it over and oddly enough Jameis' Contract let's us do that. My #1 issue and sign that the passer will be a problem is how the ball comes out. Willis will throw ducks frequently, those things can be coached but if it's in his DNA he's ruined.

That’s part of it as well not just game field film; it’s variables that come into play did his team have good playcalling and coaching did line offer adequate protection did wr run good routes ; does he fit what the vision is for the team …. Mobile qb smart can push the ball down field work ethic
If you listen to Malik interview. He doesn't like being a mobile QB. He wants to be a passer not a rusher. I think we would be a really good fit for him long term, but it requires patience.

Malik gots the right mindset that he can succeed with his legs, and but he has to develop into a passer to have that longevity. He's also incredibly selfless... He rather throw a pass and get his play makers involved than rush for a TD and get all glory. If you put him in the right spot. If you the skies the limit.

The problem is that he doesn't know how to make spot throw, see passing windows through lineman, or be in a good offense in general.

Draft mulriple wrs. Stop ignoring the position we ultimately suck at.
The fact that the Saints have waited so long and done nothing at WR (outside of Kirk Merritt) makes this a viable take.

If they really believe in Winston, then… at this point… WR is the first 1st round pick.

If they REALLY believe in a QB… then they likely trade back into the 1st round, and draft that guy.
The 5th year option on a 1st round pick is just too important to pass up.

He just as fast as taysom and can actually throw the ball down field I don’t care bout how funky Larry bird shot was does it go in idc about mechanics are you a leader do you have heart and you about preparation all the other stuff can be worked on it’s linebackers in this league that still do tackling drills because of poor form do you got a tight spiral all that other stuff is blah blah football is played with instincts
When my wife skips a period this much, she gets worried

If Atlanta drafts Willis in the top 10, they will ruin his career and be looking for a new HC next offseason.
Or he could have Vick as a mentor and show him how to handle being special and the man in the city and help him develop in a way like he did in philly

Exactly...what's the harm in waiting until 2023 to draft a QB...at least you know by then for sure if JW is the guy or isn't. And like someone else said, you haven't blown a 1st on a QB that you might not want to move to like GB and SF.

SF has to go with Lance because they traded a 2nd 1st to move up to draft him. They spent the money now they have to use the toy whether its ready or not

That's the way I see it too. Build up the offense in the draft with a tackle, WR and guard prospect. If Jameis builds on last year's performance than you're set for sustained success. If he falls on his face then you've improved pieces on the offense enough to get aggressive and trade up for a rookie QB next year and they'll have a good shot at being successful.

or still giving him his full year audition, that was cut short when he was 14TD and only 3 INT with a 4-2 record
Eh, you don't completely disregard a player throughout the DW saga and let him hang out in free agency out of interest in a full-year audition while signing him for two. That looks to me like they lost out on all of their preferences and don't like any of the current draft prospects.

And that stat line looks great out of context, but defense and the run game carried the team last year regardless of who was at QB. Can't throw interceptions when handing the ball off, and TD passes are a lot more attainable for any QB when the defense produces good field position and the run game sets him up at the 2.

If there's value to be had at QB I'm all over it.. it just doesn't feel like there will be. Inevitably teams will reach for a QB in the first despite there not being high grades on any.

I like Pickett anyway, if we were to land one.
