Observation about the newly acquired guys.... (1 Viewer)

Has anyone realized this...

This year, last year, and Payton's 1st year...that MOST of the free-agents we sign is from the AFC?

Well, they have been the dominate league lately.

And to the main post.. yeah, I'm happy we have three guys who aren't getting elite money but who have big skills and a lot of football years left in them. I'm excited. I might even get a jersey of a defender this year! :9:

Well if you look at the last 7 years or so, the AFC has pretty much been whipping up on us in the NFC, so that might not be a bad idea.

wouldn't signing afc coaches be a better plan in that case?

Vilma, Gay, and McCray are all guys that have been in the league only 3-4 years, but enough experience to know the game. They are all in their prime and a lot of football left to play in each one.

That's a good observation Caleb. Ignore the donkeys.

In the 1st year I thought we signed players mainly from the NFC East (and half of the Cowboys team)

Its the right way to approach free agency. Great point. There's lots of upside for the ones who haven't become mega-stars yet.

Troupe also fits this profile, btw.

I had no idea that we would re-sign Devery. Actually, he was usually only good for 1-2 catches a game. Although they were usually touchdowns, he never has played with much consistency. I was rather surprised by this signing. You may have a point with Gay, but I don't know how close he is with Devery. But what ever it took, I like him being a saint and hope for the best.

I think we might use him as trade bait to move around a bit in the draft.

To move this from mere factual observation to a real claim, you need to further point out that this is a different approach than the one we took last year, when we acquired guys like Simmons and Patten at the end of their careers. Also, you left out another obvious but key fact: Vilma, Gay, and McCray are all on DEFENSE. Thank goodness we're finally going right to the root of the problem with our team.

Nice Observation Caleb.
I JUST realized this!! I could care less if you call me, &&**^%, or whatever, but NEVER call me late for Happy Hour!!
Randal Gay has a Championship ring from playing with LSU in 2003, and a Championship ring from playing with the Patriots in 2005. Maybe he could earn one this year or next??
Saying a Rosary............. :)
Love the 3 signings!!!!!!!!!!
Is it draft day yet????
