4 things That don’t make sense with Mike Thomas situation: A logical approach.

1) Why would Saints say bad things like “he wouldn’t return calls” about a player they want to trade. He’s already hurt and for one of the top Wr in the NFL, you want max return.

2) What team is giving things up for a an injured player that doesn’t return calls.

3) His contract is incentive based but has a large cap hit. So why would he purposely not play several weeks when he needs to hit benchmarks to make any of his money? So the whole he did it on purpose thing doesn’t make sense. And he’s got a $8 million dead cap hit this year and $22 mil dead cap next year. Doesn’t make sense to trade him. And it doesn’t make sense that he’d do anything to jeopardize his playing time.

4) You are already weak at WR. You’re not giving up one of the best in the league because of a little drama unless you get a significant return.

I'm not with the mob, so I want to hear his side. I think we are a better team with than without him.

Good points. I think the situation will work itself out. I think if the Saints got an offer that blew them away they'd more than likely take it, but the reality is that tension is high on both sides because he's not healthy and he's not here. Once he gets healthy and he's contributing, and a part of the team again, I think this will all fade away. But certainly won't be forgotten. Sean has proven that if you get on his bad side he will ship you out. I think he's being a little more patient with Mike because of how special of a player he is, and I do think that they're close.

Not like the team called a press conference to announce he has not returned their calls. That was a report by a reporter whose "source" told him that. This is the same reporter who has not been concerned with the effects of his reports on team or its players in the past.

Payton doesn't seem to be too concerned about MT. MT isn't helping himself with his cryptic tweets, but I don't think there's as much tension as the media and fans are making it out to be. MT is going to come back and I think he's going to have a pretty good season.

Enough with all the weeping a wailing.

Just because details leaked and Duncan got a story doesn't mean it came from the Saints, especially not intentionally. I kinda understand how MT feels, like if Payton said "this stays in the building" and then there's a story, but that doesn't mean Payton betrayed him.

We all know the Saints keep things 'in-house' as well as any team in the league.

I am not sure how this got out, but MT is getting near headache territory and the team typically does not put up with it all that often...

As I said in one of the countless MT threads popping, we already suspended him last year and this could set up grounds for another...and depending on contract language, it may set up a scenario where we can eliminate a significant portion of his bonus money and thusly a lot of the dead cap hits...IF he doesn't get with the program.

A lot of people can't grasp that all of this happened in early June. So, all of this got sorted out back then.

I don't understand this emotional mob at all. If Thomas was fighting us to get surgery. Then, yes... We should be upset. He got his surgery and we are already 2 months into his recovery. He's been reporting to the Saints and doing his job. It's already been done and what matter is what happens next.

At the same time, a lot of people act like surgery is just an afternoon picnic. It's not and depending on the surgery. The outcome of a botched surgery is still there. The outcome of not fixing the issue is still there. The outcome of Thomas losing some athleticism and starting from square one for 1-2 years is still there.Just look at Alex Smith leg. While Thomas didn't keep in contact with the Saints. There is nothing said that he didn't reach his rehab milestone on his own like Lutz. At the end of the day, neither Lutz and Thomas rehab worked for them. Making a phone call isn't going to change that. It didn't matter to Lutz and both players end up in the same place.

It just sum up to Thomas not wanting to have surgery and doing his rehab on his own. He came to minicamp and PRACTICED. If he came to practiced... He thought he was healthy. He was wrong and Saints directed him to get surgery. He got surgery immediately. He didn't fight it or anything. He man up and got it done.

So, what all that really matters is what happens next. Thomas loves football and you think this MJ Alpha male egomaniac wants to miss anymore time than he already has? He wants to break records and crush defenders.

A lot of people misrepresent his character, because all you ever want to see his Twitter personality. But even his Twitter personality isn't about being a punk coward.

A lot don't see him at his church programs, his charity events, during interviews, or in real life. He's actually a very good amd soft spoken individual that's an insane competitor.

Unfortunately we have not heard the Coach or someone in the organization refute that assertion. Even Mike T has not refuted that one point. One has to conclude until there is some definitive rebuttal that it was true.

Duncan wrote a book on Payton which is basically a tribute to his ingenuity and which Payton contributed to. The assumption that Duncan doesn’t know what’s happening seems unlikely to me. More likely that Coach is a source to be honest, if anything.

If anything that has been said or reported recently is untrue, by anyone, it would be very easy for team and/or player to shut it down and say that it’s incorrect. We want to hold our players in the best possible light so look for every reason to do so. Sometimes you’ve just got to stop and realise Thomas is on Twitter liking tweets which are adverse to the Saints right now and acknowledge how easy it would be to not do that.
