Because there's 13 seconds left man and we have zero timeouts. What do you want him to do? What's the upside in stepping up and surveying the field?

They're protecting the endzone. Anything open will result in the half expiring. This is such a bizarre thing to complain about.

If he steps up into the pocket, if he's ripping the football it'll either be short of the endzone, or into coverage with a high INT %.

Furthermore, you can't easily throw it away in the pocket. How he played it is 100% correct.

Rattler is who he is. His ceiling is a backup qb. Which is not a knock because few people reach that level.

You came to said conclusion after watching him run a decimated offense against some of the elite defenses in the league in his first starts as a rookie.

Let’s give him Baker Mayfield , Sam Darnold , Geno Smith kinda of time.
