Official LSU vs. OU Thread (a.k.a. Boomers lose to Tigers again!) (1 Viewer)

LSU should be able to win this game rather easily. No way the OU defense can stop the passing game of Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Marshall, & Moss. Not many, if any teams can stop that attack.

OU’s defense has been its weakness and they will be missing their top pass rusher in Ronnie Perkins and top safety who is 2nd on the team in tackles in Delarrin Turner-Yell. Losing those 2 is HUGE cause they are really important to the pass defense.

It stinks that Clyde is injured, but I don’t think we need him today. I hope he dresses out as an emergency back only cause we will definitely need him in the championship game. We can not afford him to not be in that game here in NOLA. I would love to see John Emery Jr have a breakout game cause I think he’s most talented out of the trio of backs behind Clyde. He was seen as the top back in the country coming out of high school last year. TDP is your quintessential power back. He will likely get the bulk of the carries. Both have shown some glimpses of being the future at running back. Supposedly Baby Beastmode, who some call Chris Curry, has had some great practices according to Coach O & Burrow. He’s really talented as well and rarely does anything negative. All 3 of these backs could be starting for most college programs, so I have faith in them. And all 3 will be out on the field getting touches today.

I think the defense is finally fully healthy this year, but still missing Michael Divinity. I hope he’s able to play in the championship game. The pass rush leaves a lot to be desired. I was hoping Dave Aranda would get the head coaching job at UNLV cause we need to go back to the 4/3 defense. He’s one of the best defensive coordinators out there, but he’s a 3/4 guy. We have to bring in all linebackers with one defensive tackle on the D-line on 3rd downs so we can get pressure. LSU was always successful running the 4/3 defense. Hardly any team runs a 3/4 in college cause it’s not that effective for rushing the passer unless you get the best talent like Bama. We need to have two K’Lavon Chaisson types rushing from the edge cause now they can just double him. The secondary is the best in college football. Delpit, Stingley, Fulton, Stevens, and Vincent can play with anybody and hopefully they can stop CeeDee Lamb. He’s a beast and I would love to see him in the black & gold next season, but doubt he will fall that far. Jalen Hurts and CeeDee Lamb are the two guys that can really hurt us. We have shown that stopping a dual threat QB is one of our biggest weaknesses. Hurts has turned the ball over a ton though, so hopefully if he gets a big run we strip the ball from him.

Score Prediction:

LSU 41
OU 24

AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

Still too much time.

With the common opponent being Texas, I'm expecting a close game. Should be a pretty good game. Don't underestimate Hurts moving the chains.
Sure, LSU is the favorite but I'm sure the Sooner players are gonna play with a chip.
I wouldn't doubt if OU players run their mouth pregame to get the Tigers poed.
They'll try to change ur focus.
I'm also expecting less points this game with the time layoff.
One thing to watch, ou may try the T.O.P game to keep the possessions limited for the tiger O .
Respect every opponent or bad juju results.

Sure they respect OU. I would be surprised of OU tried to rile up LSU pregame. That would remove the chip that they would play with.

None of it will matter. I like the fact that we are playing in same place as SEC CG. May not seem like much, but the kids have already played on this field, in similar environment. So they can focus on executing the O and D plans.

If Burrow and Co pick up where they left off 3 weeks ago, something like 35 or 41 to 21 to 24 or so. If we struggle early, probably like28 or 31 where we put it down in the second half.

Geaux Tigahs.

Memphis vs Penn State is a poor substitute, but it is football . . . sorta.
I'm a PA girl so I gotta root for them but I'm not emotionally invested.

I know OU pretty well. Their pregame 50 yard line trash talk takes ur players away from the task at hand and makes ur players play stupid to start the game. Focusing on what was said rather than the game.
Targeting calls, late hits, stupid penalties result. Being 18-22 year old hard head kids sometimes go a stray off the game plan.
I'm not being negative to tiger fans. They should win.
I'm just familiar with OUs antics. They've done it to my Mountaineers a few times and some of my dumb players bit the cheese.

My mom was from Monessen, PA, a rust belt town just south of Pittsburgh, so when I was a kid I rooted for Penn State, especially when they were perennially playing Alabama back in the 70s for national championships. I still root for them, but I don't have near the feeling for them that I have for the Tigers, as I grew up in Baton Rouge and then New Orleans (where my dad is from). Looks like Penn State will beat Memphis pretty comfortably, although I like the Memphis QB and their moxie.

Small world. My grandparents lived in Stockdale. (close to Charleroi) on the Monongahela. Spent summers up there and remember trips to Monessen. (that was like big city stuff lol) there or Mt. Vernon. Lol
