OLB CONNOR BARWIN: the next Urlacher?? better than curry???!!!! (1 Viewer)

This kid would clearly be ranked above both Cushing and Matthews if he'd played anywhere but Cincy.

Anyone who watched that highlight film and doesn't think he's fast or strong enough to play in the league should be seriously thankful they're not in a position to rank talent professionally. He's smooth, fast, great burst, good power. Very strong hands. Not a huge hitter, but if someone is in arms reach he brings them down.

He won't make it past the second round, and he'll have no problem transitioning to a 4-3.

I think you're probably right about the USC vs Cincy thing. I don't think he will get into the 1st round. It'll probably be close though.

I don't like the way Barwin tackles. He might turn out to be pretty good, who knows, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

If he is anything like Urlacher make sure he comes with a sock in his mouth.

First, I agree with you, I think Barwin has the potential to be better than Cushing and Matthews. Right now they have more momentum, so they are rated higher and will go a round before Barwin, but that doesn't necessarily make them better.

Second, it is not a "fact" that they tested positive for steriods. Yet. A blog site reported that they heard it and several other sites repeated their claim. No one has confirmed it outside, only repeated that there are "reports" of such a positive result. One site has since taken DOWN that webpage, which makes you wonder if it's true.

first i would like thank you for correcting me on my error about taking the steroid allegations as "fact." i was wrong and i regret attacking their character on what turned out to be a lie. :1zhelp:

but i would like to add that momentum means nothing.

fujita and adalius thomas play like first-rounders. talent is talent. if you have top 20 talent and production. you should go in the top 20 if intangibles and off-field problems. arent an issue. kids like barwin are just like colston. if this kid gets passed on just because of "momentum" or "the school" he played at many teams will be very sorry.

would we really pass on a talent like this at #14?

wait, one second, did you just say Fujita played like a first rounder??? you just lost all those points for knowing OLB.

Fujita is ok, and was a big upgrade over what we had the few years prior to him, and much better in our opinion than simoneaux, but 1st talent wise?? I'm sorry, he's not even top 15 OLB.

Looks good on paper, but what you're suggesting in your title is absolutely rediculous. There's a reason he's not a top ranked OLB.
Zack Thomas wasn't ranked an Elite LB, he was drafted in like the 6th Round by Miami, what did he do?

He only went on to be one the Top 5 MLBs in the NFL during his time. Nowadays he's on the downside and playing for the Cowboys. But when he was younger, he was an absolute animal on the field.

He didn't have the size, he didnt have the strength, but he had the SMARTS and WORK ETHIC which made him one of the most instictive MLBs.

really?

2008--keith rivers
2007--john beason, lawrence timmons
2006--a.j. hawk, chad greenway, ernie sims, bobby carpenter
2005---derrick johnson
2004--d.j. williams
2003--nick barnett
2002--napolean harris
2001--n/a
2000--lavar arrington, kieth bullock, julian peterson
1999--mike peterson

with the exception of the 1st rounders of 2000 and 99', you mean to tell me that with four years of over 100 tackles or more and 6 as a starter fujita hasn't matched the production of any of these guys?

there are only maybe 4 of those, that i'd take Fujita ahead of.
Fuji is good, he's not Great. he's not 1st round talent..
If Fuji was a 1st rounder, he'd been consider a BUST.

point is, you rarely ever get the production you expect out of 1st round outside linebackers that you expect over the last decade.

i never never said he was great or even a probowler. i said that he played like a first rounder.

the chiefs did their homework on fujita's athleticism .....

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=59870&draftyear=2002&genpos=OLB

and in his second year when he got a chance to start he responded with 111 tackles, 4 sacks, and an interception.

like i said. talent is talent.

fujita is every bit as physically gifted as cushing or matthews and to me it really would not come as a suprise if they never surpass fujita in production.
