One NOLA food per row only… (1 Viewer)

some of these choices just don't stand on equal grounds

there are dozens of ways to make a poboy and it will still be a poboy, yet there is only one way to boil crawfish or to make a muffaletta....

the middle row are closer to being equal choices so i will go with gumbo and all of it's variations

pralines and beignets are also one trick ponies while king cake has several types...

(i am bored today)

Aunt and Uncle left the Parish for Colorado in the 80s. Their final meal was at R&C, and every time they are back in New Orleans it’s a must that the family eat at R&C. It’s good food (bordering on great), but it’s the ambiance and memories that set it apart.

Were the 70s and 80s the golden age of the Parish?
Not sure about the golden age.😁. I grew up about 2 miles from there. Mac and cheese with gravy was a big thing.
It’s been years years since I’ve been there.

Never had their gumbo. I grew up on Rocky and Carlos and enjoyed it. R&C was definitely a thing back in the 70’s and 80’s.

I grew up in the Parish too and went to Rocky's many times in the 70s and 80s, every Friday night for many years during high school football season. And, I have never heard of gumbo at Rocky's. Maybe it's something new?

Nothing better than their baked macaroni and bushaloni. Their thin gut onion rings were also great.

I recall bringing my wife, who was from Alexandria, there in the early 2000s. She said she wanted an Italian salad. I told her they don't call them that. I told her what they called it but she refused to say it. She ordered an Italian salad and the lady at the counter yelled back, "one WOP salad."

Never been to Rocky & Carlo’s myself, but from everything ive ever heard about the place, it wouldnt be completely unusual to find human remains in the gumbo .

I see the confusion. Rocky's doesn't sell gumbo to my knowledge. They sell po-boys, but they mostly sell New Orleans style Italian food. But, yes, the do seem to get shut down by the Board of Health every now and then.

Where is she from now?
