Opinions and feelings now that Moore is the head coach. (14 Viewers)

I think the question can be answered in multiple phases:

Phase 1...we officially have new coach. Just off a great year as an OC and our situation is so bad that he really has nowhere to go but up. Not his fault on the players we have, the salary cap issues, etc. So, this next year will be a "freebie."

Phase 2....we can come back and answer this question again once he assembles HIS staff. This will let us all have an opinion on what defense and offense we run. Then we can complain and give kudos to how our existing players will fit those schemes.

Phase 3....what players are cut, restructured, traded, retire, extended, etc. Yet again another opportunity for us to evaluate how the ship is being righted and what time frame is needed to get this going in the right direction.

Phase 4...the draft and free agency. Is this going to be the same as previous years, where we get "projects?". Or...do we go BPA and truly rebuild?

Phase 5....training camp. How does Moore handle the additional responsibilities and run HIS camp.

Phase 6...the season. We stink and we all know we stink. But do we see a difference in the heart and passion of the players? Are our games blowouts or do they become more fun to watch and we see improvement each week? Only time will tell.

Phase one...I'm happy with the choice of Moore. I'll update my answers to the other parts as I see how he hanes each of the other phases. But...so far so good

and NO...I am not related to him🤣😅

I think it will prove to be a good hire. As I said in another thread, that pass to Smith for the dagger touchdown won me over. We need some excitement, some aggression, and yes, some arrogance.

Looking at the bigger picture, I think the offense is in less bad condition than the defense. Most of the injuries were in the offense: McCoy, Carr, Olave, Shaheed, Kamara, Miller—those are vital pieces of the offense. Meanwhile, Lattimore and Adebo were the only key players who were hurt long term on the defensive side. That tells me that the defense is worse than the offense because it had fewer injuries but was still not adequate.

And that also tells me that finding better defensive players and a top notch DC are the top priorities. I hope Moore doesn’t focus too much on the offense. It certainly needs attention (WR, G, TE), but the defense is old and in need of improvement even more urgently than the offense.

So now he is our head coach, what is everyone feelings now. After the season everyone had their own opinions on the new head coach. Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, Joe Brady, Mike McCarthy, Klinsbury, and Kafka were names most often mentioned. Kellen Moore was hardly mentioned. Everyone had their own opinions and choices. But seeing what had happened and Moore winning a Superbowl, does it change your perception? If all the candidates are willing to sign here now, would your pick be different?
We never really knew who the Saints were targeting. KM was low on the fans charts, but it really seems that the Saints got their guy. The two in person interviews suited the Rooney rule. So I’m ok with the hire, only becaue the Saints got their guy. I trust their opinions over my own.

I do not have a strong opinion on what type of head coach Moore will be. I hope he will be successful and wish him luck. I was intrigued by Anthony Weaver and wanted to know more about Mike Kafka. But I had no interest in McCarthy, Brady or Kingsbury.

I am interested in hearing what Moore and Loomis have to say at the press conference tomorrow. The MVP of the Eagles' Super Bowl win was Howie Roseman. Unless we finally recognize that a major rebuild is in order, it doesn't matter who the head coach is. We are a team lacking star talent, depth and a likely future quarterback and are mired in salary-cap hell. I heard Luke Johnson's interview this morning on Sirius NFL. He said that based on public pronouncements our front office seems to believe we are more talented than we are but wondered whether the lack of interest shown by the top candidates in the Saints head-coach job might be a wake-up call for the organization.

Again, we will be given tomorrow hints of what the immediate future looks like.

Regarding Kellen Moore, he seems an extremely bright and accomplished young man. But the jump from offensive coordinator to head coach is huge and calls for a different skill-set. In appearance and perhaps temperament, he seems to lack the command of an NFL head coach, but so did Tom Landry, Bill Walsh, Blanton Collier and Bud Grant. Not every successful head coach needs to have the persona of Bill Belichick or Bill Parcells.

I’m actually excited about the team for the first time since Sean left. Aside from that glorious first two weeks of this past season that is.
