Opinions and feelings now that Moore is the head coach. (5 Viewers)

I didn't want a retread. I didn't want Glenn.

Moore's proven he will build his offense to the talent he has available and he will put his player's in a position to succeed. He just matched wits against the #4 ranked scoring defense in the Super Bowl and won.

I think this is a great hire and I am excited to see the Saints with a genuinely new leader and vision.

Now that it's done and now that he's fresh off being victorious in the Super Bowl, I am reminded that the Saints greatest success came from a first-time head coach. I am also reminded that another current first-time head coach -- our own Dan Campbell -- has turned the hapless Lions into a pretty good contender.

It's obviously an art to knowing which guy who hasn't had his chance yet is going to be a good fit for that role. The field is littered with the has-beens with "experience". That being said, my feeling is starting to be a really good one.

Then again, I didn't have a bad feeling about Dennis Allen at first so what do I know?

It's a choice that still checks the "young and hungry" box, as he might've been a key driver of a Super Bowl champion as an assistant, but it's indeed different to try to do it as a head coach.

DA once won a ring, too -- as an assistant. Moore appears to be motivated enough to take on the challenge of doing it as a head man. And man, will it be challenging with Mickey Loomis as the GM!

I think it was the best hire they could make.

Glenn would have been a disaster imo.
McCarthy gives John Fox to the Bears vibes - pretty sure he's washed.
Vrabel - Not bad but don't want a defensive coach.
Brady - Not sure he's HC material. Good OC but can he run a team. The same could be said for Moore I guess.
Kafka - Would be the laughing stock of the league if we hired him.
Rizzi - Rah rah and screaming works for three games.
Kingsbury - Nobody fails upward more than this dude. He's not even considered if he doesn't luck into a generational QB.

I will see if he proves me wrong in NY but I do not think AG will be very successful as a HC.

It's a risky hire, I worry about San Diego's meltdown in 2023, but might have a Sean Payton upside. I hope he can be the next McVay, O'Connel, or LaFleur. Oddly, I feel kind of optomistic and that the team is finally moving forward.

I like the choice. Fresh Ideas instead of trying to retread old tires. They only last so long. I just hope EVERYONE is patient enough and treat this like building a new house. Cant expect to build before you have the land and blueprints. Sometimes lack of patience for success leads to failure. I honestly believe Coach likely has it in his contract with bonuses for such a blueprint. not many Coaches will walk in a situation knowing you are somewhat limited by yrs of cap hell chasing the trophy. If we can somehow leave the emotions out of what the peyton era spoiled us with, and give him an honest 4 yrs. We just might become a contenders instead of pretenders. FWIW in my opinion.

I agree with the need for patience, but we should be fine with the cap by next year unless we do some dumb things between now and then.

I'm very excited. After it is all said and done, I think we made out with one of the top candidates. I was in the McCarthy group the whole way and he was basically ours if we wanted him so when we turned him down it could only mean the FO was really high on Moore. I think if every team had to wait until after the SB, our chances of landing him would be lower. Not saying he's automatically going to be the next Sean Payton for us, but Loomis and Co are definitely jumping on this young offensive mind trend and I'm excited to see where it goes. We already brought in Kubiak last year and now going with Moore over McCarthy could mean the Saints FO has their ears to the ground and want to fix it right.

I discussed this with a friend. When Moore name was mentioned, I wasn't all in as a consideration. Reason: His time with the Charger. Having Herbert as a quarterback and couldn't elevate that offense to the next level. I still have that lingering doubts. He is young still with no head coaching experiences. But seeing how he handle the Eagles offense and really elevate his play calling during the playoffs were impressive. I really bet if there was a do over, Moore would be top candidates for all the teams looking for coaches.

I didn't want Mccarthy.. I wanted another SP. Young.. Aggressive.. Wanting to make a name for himself so in 15 years he can become... I don't know... the HC for Tennessee or some other godforsaken place....

Not sure if this is the guy but one thing we have is a patient front office.... I'm willing to wait 3 years and let him build HIS team....

Someone beat me to it but'

CHAPIONSHIP

Outside of McCarthy and Vrabel, the rest of the field was a crap shoot. All good prospects, but all unproven. I like that Moore is young, a former college and pro QB and a guy who has benefitted from solid experience as an NFL OC. Remind you of anybody? He's as good of a "get" as any of the others, Johnson included.

What am I most excited about? What I perceive to be a commitment to change. Not necessarily in the coaching ranks, but in the way we'll manage our franchise going forward. I've been calling for a re-set/rebuild since the pre-season prior to Payton's last year. If we just continue to double down and endlessly extend players in the twilight of their careers, my optimism in Moore will dampen. It's just a worn out strategy that didn't work. I don't care why it didn't work, it didn't work. Build a championship calibre team, don't chase one.

I'm ready to rock with him. He's young, completely raw as a head coach, and has question marks on his resume (who doesn't), but I'd rather bet big on big upside than play it safe with the Dennis Allens of the world.

Finding a QB will make or break him, but as long as he's got the team playing smart, hard, and disciplined football, I'm hoping we'll give him a couple bites at that apple.
