optimus, not that at all man. just ran across his on ebay, and at an original's price (200 bucks).. and its a fake. no where on the ad does he mention that its a reproduction, only that its printed on photo paper. i just think its sick to ask that much for a repoduction and not even say so. i can see taking a few bucks for your time.. but that is borderline criminal. us real fans that want one appreciate what you and scott have done to make it to where we can actually get and afford one.

thats what im getting at. i met rico when he came to pick up my original, and when he dropped it off later that day. hes a nice guy and a big saints fan like myself, so im not trying to make enemies here, i just dont want people making a million copies of the poster, trying to pass them off as originals, or even selling them as copies but flooding the market with them. i think that every die hard fan of the dome patrol should have a poster, but not if it means that someone ends up making thousands of dollars for copies.

this is the reason why poonami's print shop friend did not give anyone his scan file for that first batch, and i think that the same should apply to the scan file CDs that Rico and Scott have. im probably never taking my original out of the tube again, and im certainly not loaning it to anyone anymore.

you have no clue what you are talking about. the price before shipping and me using my own money and my own time buying envelopes and poster tubes is $41.80.

this is last time im going to acknowledge you. i didnt need your help nor did i ask for your help to get the poster proof or print. you offered. i was perfectly content on waiting til i was done with exams and doing it this week. but you and your brother wanted to get it done so bad and rightfully so, it is the dome patrol signing posters. i thought it was pretty nice of me actually to refer you to optimus, give you his number, give you the place that would print it and proof it after i had searched daily by myself for 3 weeks and on top of that give you the only 20 i had on me.

i don't even know why you are attacking me, rico. is it because i didnt send you 60 bucks? i dont feel i need to send you 60 bucks if you are selling copies for 130 and copies on ebay for 200. im a broke college student trying to graduate. you claim i bash you, but i no post i ever made contained your name.

whatever i did to offend you for you to come in this thread and start accusing me of this, i apologize.

and to all the people who have started sending me payments, i have gotten them. the quicker everyone gets it in to me, the quicker i can get it ordered.

I'm not really sure what's going on, but... if you don't want to pay the price they're offering for the posters then don't buy them. Not a big deal. I for one think that $50/poster is a pretty good deal and it sounds like Scott has spent a lot of time checking on all the little things to make sure they're good quality prints. If he is half as busy as my exam week has been then I really don't mind throwing in the couple of extra dollars for his hard work.

As far as the digital copy goes any way I can get a copy of a lower resolution that wouldn't be possible to make prints from it? I'm guessing the scan is pretty high resolution. I was hoping to get a copy to use as a desktop background or mobile phone background.

Anyways seems like people just need to chill, and like I said if you dont' want to buy it at the price offered then don't.

Rico: I think why people are upset is it appears that your trying to profit off of something that we were all just hoping to spread around to the die-hards on the board. Whether you claim it as original or replica doesn't really matter I don't think. People are taking issue with the $200 Buy it now and $50 starting bid you've put it up for. I don't think anyone here ever wanted to get them scanned/printed for anyone to sell on ebay.

Here is another poster up, although the seller claims to not know if it is a Replica or Original... can anyone that has seen both tell by the picture they have up? I would hate to think these posters started hitting ebay when they were just supposed to be made for people on the forums that had missed out on the first prints...

EDIT: After looking at it some more seems that the 2nd one is a fake too -- The NFL Shield and Title look too close to the edge of the poster where the original had a little more space. Also the sellers response to people asking whether it's a fake or original doesn't give me much confidence...

UPDATE: Haha seems the second one was taken down by "Saints fans" "pestering" the seller lol. I never sent the seller a msg about it but looks like other Who Dats did. The Reuben Mayes poster was made by the same company as The Dome Patrol, Costacos Bros. I actually found it up on ebay for like $12.00 Buy it now once and posted on this thread or another Dome Patrol thread (i forget) and someone ended up buying it shortly after I made my post. Looking back now I should've bought it -- a steal for $12.

UPDATE

paypal payments are trickling in. you guys should start getting notices of shipping because im printing everyones shipping labels just to start getting things organized.

i got the proof in today from the print company. a few small things with it that i notice and no one else does. my girlfriend insists that i have greater than 20/20 vision due to the fact that i can always find something wrong with visuals. i have a 42 in lg tv 1080p 120hz and sometimes i complain about the quality. just my nature

with that said, going to tell them to tweak it out a bit more and send me a digital proof. everything is going smoothe and ETA of sometime the end of next week is still what its looking like. like i said, the faster everyone gets payments in the better. i know you guys can wait an extra day or two since you guys have waited this long.

I have been looking to buy another original on Ebay but at this point it is ridiculous to even try with all the copies running around. You could easily spend a few hundred bones on a fake. Fortunately, the guy with 2nd Ebay auction mentioned above got so anxious he gave himself away that it was a fake. I'm glad as I was thinking of purchasing it. I HAVE SOME GREAT NEWS

i was able to get in touch with the photographer that took the picture of THE BURY EM DEEP/GRIM REAPER/CEMETARY photo in 91. he lost the two copies he had in a house fire. him and i are meeting up tomorrow at pro photo lab to get the poster redone. basically, they have this huge digital camera that takes like a million shots at high resolutions and pieces it all together in adobe. the quality is suppose to surpass an oversized scanner by 2 fold.

after this, he will give me whatever consent i need to sell a few copies on ebay. they will be numbered with his signature. we also agreed to give a percentage to charity. most probably childrens hospital

he said he also did a poster 3 years later with bobby hebert and other old school quarterbacks dressed as the 3 muskateers...? he is looking into getting that one also.

so, for anyone who wanted a chance to own an official poster of the dome patrol, this is going to actually happen. i know its a reproduction, but with the technology of today and the touch up/color fixes in adobe, its going to look great. my regular scanned copies of the costaco dome patrol poster looks amazing, so im excited to see this done.

he also told me that there was without a doubt only 50-100 made back in 91.

so, ill be on the update you guys. this is a good thing for any die hard who wants a shot at owning this infamous poster.
