I think it's funny that I gave two direct quotes from the Bible about what Peter...PETER, FCOL, did on the very night that Jesus was betrayed, and it's just skipped over and dismissed by the "Christians" here because it don't jibe with their bloodthirsty take on what "Christians are supposed to do". Really. IT'S IN THE FREAKING BOOK!!!

Here's something else from the Book:

3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Yes, I can rip them out-of-context, too. I might as well, because obviously no one accepts context these days. :aargh:

She signed a confession, just so they'd let her go. They promised that they'd let her go if she signed it. The next day, they burned her anyway. Of course, that was "Christian-on-Christian" and had more to do with politics than anything...but still...what?

So I don't know...but I do know that "living longer is the ultimate revenge", and so try to live. I do believe that the martyred Saint in my avatar would agree with me...or else she never would have signed the "confession". She just wanted to go home...

In a perfect, imperfect World, I'd almost...I said ALMOST...love to see the Chinese army come pouring across our Southern border...or scratch that. I'd love to see the Guatemalans...bringing the Faith of Catholicism, even, to these Protestants...or really, just the "Beast" as is prophesied what he will do...and see how many in their uptight little worlds would actually "walk the talk" at the point of a sword. I'll bet that many here who are banging the drums for this "martyr" would chicken out themselves when faced with the up-front real-life choice...heck, according to some churches, they already have denied Christ for the "good life". Who are you going to believe?


...and I'll betchya they'll suddenly use the verses from Matthew and Luke that I quoted to justify their own "little white lie".

I know. St. Peter is a wonderful example and comfort for all of us who have messed up, and the Lord knows I did, too. And you know, I think that the difference here lies in the question if you actually realize that you messed up and then repent afterwards, or if you think to yourself something like oh I can mess up cause God will forgive me anyways. Something that is part of every confession is to repent, and the will to turn things around. St. Peter did repent and he changed, and he proved it for the rest of his life and died that way.

I never thought I would get involved in a religious discussion on here I'm the only (Roman) Catholic where I live and I'm still learning. I enjoy being surrounded by Muslims, atheists, and also Jews recently, and I also have a Protestant friend. But I miss talking to other Catholics. I do have a bible group though that I go to but it's only once a month, and I'm a very curious person and a bit emotional also so once a month is just not enough for me lol.
