He can renegotiate his contract and hand those guaranteed dollars back anytime he wants. Something tells me that’s not what he wants.

I'm sure there were discussion about the future but it's been stated for quite a while Carr would be the QB. The idea that he was blind sided by this, still wants out and didn't know what a restructure was all seems pretty ridiculous to me.Treat it how you want, but this is now the fourth or fifth person to report this or something similar. Florio, Breer, Underhill/Triplett, and Kirwin all have reported similar things. Apparently Carr preferred to be cut or traded and was willing to waive his no trade clause. The Saints asked him to take a pay cut but he refused and indicated that he would rather go. But, Moore wants him to start at least this year so the Saints did the standard restructure which they can do without his consent. I can't swear that the details are correct but 4 to 5 sources have now reported something similar so it seems pretty clear that Carr doesn't really want to be here and he's here because Moore wanted him as his starter this year. I'm sure Carr will still play his best, but it appears that he would rather be playing some place else.
It’s possible he didn’t understand it last year. The money still gets paid out on the same schedule, it just gets a new name for salary cap purposes. In 2024, he would have received the same $30m spread out over the regular season with or without restructuring. Then again, he had to have known this becuase he got restructured last year on Feb 23 2024....so it was the exact same thing. Something doesn't add up.
He doesn't have to play. This was about cap space, what was best for the team.I'm sure this is gonna go over really well with his teammates that he has to play with this season. They're probably texting like crazy about these kinda rumors.

I’d settle for a QB that can read a blitz and not panic.I want our next QB to be the type of guy to read and understand his contract.
Fair, still think it's funny. Dude has definitely earned his standing in this city. Fans aren't just gving him a hard time just to give it to him...he worked hard on it. Regardless, as was mentioned in the other thread, it's still possible for him to be traded. Still possible for Saints to move up and draft a QB and have he and Rattler compete after trading Carr. It’s possible he didn’t understand it last year. I'd love that too, but a great QB has to be detail obsessed. "I don't understand my contract, bro. Can you read it to me?" ain't gonna cut it.I’d settle for a QB that can read a blitz and not panic.
Contracts are for agents.
